Colorado shooting impacts Dark Knight Movie

This really does sound very strange because there are several stories completely surround The Century 16 theatre in Aurora, CO-Where the Warner Bros. new movie, "The Dark Knight Rises" is now playing. 13 people are now dead after the shooting Denver Stations KUSAwww.9news.com & KCNCwww.cbsdenver.com are reporting this story right this very minute. more to come...

Big condolences to the families and friends that lost loved ones this morning. This is a national tragedy. Been watching KUSA/9 for the last hour, and I give big kudos to the team at 9 News.

The suspect's name was James Holmes; He was the mastermind of the shooting. Holmes dressed up as Bane, a former WWF wrestler turned Batman arch-nemesis. So, anyway I don't know if WB plans to pull "The Dark Knight Rises" in most theatres because the studio has spent a lot of its money hyping the third-and final installment of The Christopher Nolan-helmed movie trilogy.

I learned via 9 News that Holmes dressed up as the Joker in Batman, and that several moviegoers thought it was a stunt until they heard booms and screams.

There's a lot of speculation going around, but one story that's been making the rounds is that Holmes dressed up as the Joker when going into the theater, left out the back exit, which he propped open on his way out, and came back in as Bane to start the assault. We'll have to wait awhile before we know what happened.

If they pull the movie nationwide, that will be a lesson to the other sick people out there that they have that much power.

I imagine no other movie will welcome people in disguise.

What will this do the image of the Batman property? Nobody will think of the Caped Crusader anymore without thinking of this tragedy.

Hasn't HUB been showing reruns of the 1966-68 Batman series? What action has HUB taken on that since this tragedy unfolded?

Prayers for the victims and their families and the people of Aurora.

The crazy part is that the mass Shooting took place 1 year after the Norway incident happened and the press said that that he used tactics that resembed the Norway killer in 2011 Bombs and guns.

As far as I know, Warner Bros. has not pulled the film, but a trailer for an upcoming gangster film starring Sean Penn has been pulled, as it features a scene involving a shoot-em-up at a movie theater. Also, Warners has cancelled a premiere of the Batman film, and its interview junket, in Paris, in light of the shootings.

Some theaters showing the film has also tightened security in light of the shootings, with some chains (such as AMC) tightening restrictions on props and head coverings.

If there is any film that would be pulled because of the shootings, I would think "Inglorious Basterds" would be withheld from TV, due to its climax involving a movie theater.

Nowadays, Theatre Chains are getting very strict on its guidelines as we might have a good feeling there will be screen detectors to be installed over most popular movie theatres. Like The Top three chains-Regal, Cinemark & AMC. Movie Theatres are starting to become like Stadiums, Ballparks, Arenas, & Airports; Always have patience while security will be searching for Masks, Costumes, Toy Weapons, Cellphones, Cameras, MP3's, iPods, and Outside Food.

"Inglorious Basterds" is so violent that even editing the starch out of it wouldn't work. I doubt it would ever be shown on OTA TV.

That said, the ending in the movie theater is an act of war, not terrorism, and I doubt many people would make the connection. It would be easy enough to remove the two "basterds" shooting people from the balcony without destroying the effect of the scene if that were seen to be a problem.

The hip-shot move by AMC to not permit costumes in their theaters would not have prevented this particular event. What would have prevented it would have been to station ushers at the exit doors ensuring they could not be propped open or opened from the outside.

Though it could be seen on a premium channel such as HBO or Showtime.

On September 13, 2001, while the other broadcast networks were still in wall-to-wall coverage, UPN aired "WWF" with the announcement they were not going to let the terrorists win.

^I guess you were referring to the continuous reports about the tragedies of September 11th, 2001 in New York, New York, Arlington, Virginia, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. As the program broadcast by the United Paramount Network (UPN), its full title was "WWF SmackDown!"

And not only is it reminiscent of Columbine, but this, like Columbine, happened on the 20th of a month.

Now, as far as the studio pulling movie-related items is concerned, I wonder if those movie posters with the tagline "a fire will rise" will be yanked sooner rather than later. Looking at one on Friday after what went down brought a whole new meaning to it.

I wouldn't walk across the street to see a movie at midnight. The guy who did this is nuttier that Osama Bin Laden.

The Sad part is that if a shooting like this took place in Oakland or LA Movie theater then it would not have national coverage. Sure if 12 people died in a movie theater in Oakland or LA or Chicago then it will only have local outrage by Community leaders, Mayor, Victims families, Police and local Media. But the nation will not pay attention to it as much. But then again the Oikos Shooting in Oakland back in April it did have some national attention but not as much national outrage as far as I can remember. I do know that there was Local Outage in the Bay Area and Statewide outrage and that was about it.

Mass killings always get national coverage.

"If it bleeds, it leads".

Apparently you have forgotten the 1979 shooting at Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego and the Stockton school yard shooting in 1989 or the 1984 killings in a San Ysidro (CA) McDonalds.
