Colours TV - gone?

This morning, yet another member of the Dish Network "Public Service Tier" has vanished, replaced with "We regret that Colours TV is no longer carried by any national satellite or cable provider."

Surprisingly, Wikipedia, which is usually the first place such changes get mentioned, has nothing on either the page about the station or in the channel listings for Dish.

Colours TV's website also is still up but appears to have little for current content, most of it looks like it hasn't been updated since April and it's myspace page is worse (about 2008!), however, the Facebook page is like the website, no new postings since April, but a few users comments about it vanishing from Dish within the last 18 hours (though I could have sworn they were on last night s I was scrolling by)

Dish Network's "public service" channels have been disappearing? I wouldn't know, as I have them all blocked. All I can say is good riddance! Those, combined with religious channels and shopping channels, must be 25 channels I had to block.

When I had Dish Network some years ago, I remember they had a number of non religious PI channels, including The Research Channel (no longer existant), PBS You, Free Speech TV, HITN and WorldLink TV. Dish provided a more diverse PI selection than DirecTV, which went more for religious channels as religious channels could count towards PI requirement.

Anyone remember "ColorSounds"? It was a music video program that featured the lyrics on-screen with emphasis on vowels. Aired on a few PBS stations back in the day. What a neat show.

When I had Dish Network some years ago, I remember they had a number of non religious PI channels, including The Research Channel (no longer existant), PBS You, Free Speech TV, HITN and WorldLink TV. Dish provided a more diverse PI selection than DirecTV, which went more for religious channels as religious channels could count towards PI requirement.

Yeah, I remember Research TV, and Washington University had a channel as well, both have also vanished, there were explainations for those (lack of funding in each case). I've heard nothing about what happened to ColoursTV. Plus with the lack of updates on both the website and Fackbook since April, it kinda implies that the station ran out of funds as well, it's just strange I can't find any broadcasting type news sounces that tell the tale.

I would think that Colours TV is just many places that close down suddenly -- they just close up shop and walk away, not even bothering to change the marquee, which still displays the latest drink and meal specials.

...which does not quite have anything to do with Colours TV, which never shown the series.
