Columbia Morning Contracts

I hear Jonathan Rush at WNOK is nearing the end of his latest contract. Just curious what yall think about his future. Also, did Jeff Roper do a multi-year or just a one year deal with Double O? Does anyone know the contract status of the other Columbia morning shows, including syndicated shows like John Boy & Billy and Tom Joyner?

As for JR: Upside -- huge name recognition and marketability to adults. Downside -- the current Morning Rush is painful to listen to and sounds like about 15 seconds of prep was done before the show. JR, when he is on and really digs in to do the work, is as good as (if not better than) anyone.

Dunno about Jeff Roper. I imagine he has a multi-year which will allow him to build the show, yet get out if a larger market calls.

JB& B and Tom Joyner are probably 1-3 year contracts with automatic renewals. Most syndicated shows are like that, with the exception of Stern and Rush.

Joyner will probably stay on Kiss. Now that Big Dm has a hot syndicated afternoon show, they probably cannot give up the inventory to go after Joyner's show too. Good thing for Kiss, because Joyner IS Kiss. I can't imagine WNOK getting rid of Rush. He's a local legend and the only name that anyone knows. Unless it's a money thing, I think he stays. John Boy & Billy have no place else to go. The B106 guys probably aren't going anywhere. I have no idea about Roper. But I would think it has an easy out for both he and New 92.
