For Columbia everything seems to be status quo but wwnq aka the dude looks like it had a pretty nice upswing while on the other hand WWNU went backwards

Are you telling me there are markets for this board to discuss outside of GSP and Charleston, Carroll? :)

LOL. Just need to recruit some bodies from other markets to participate here. :) I couldn't talk with any educated knowledge outside of the GSP market (and I'm sure there are members here who don't think I know squat about GSP either).

But I will ask one question. I suppose NextMedia doesn't subscribe to Arbitron? Was curious to see how KZQ does in MB.

I also noticed the same thing but with the way the Arbitron is depending on who subscribes and who don't subscribe its kinda hard to keep track. Where I live at now before I moved from South Carolina I had an antenna up about 40 feet or and could pick stations up from 4 different states on a regular basis now I can just pick up whatever I get when the band conditions are good. HAAT was and so far still seems to be my best friend. AWP I am not sure much about GSP or Charleston since I have been away, I use to keep up with them alot, but I know they have changed with the likes of CC, Entercom and the new Summit group but back in the day I loved the GSP radio market just as much as I did Columbia... I never really understood why 94.3 couldn't hold a small share rating in Columbia when they were playing classic country. They had a really great size niche of listeners for a small FM station, very odd. 92.1 on the other hand never stood a real chance going against 97.5 since WCOS has been there forever and with both stations playing the same kind of music format it didn't take a rocket scientist to see that 97.5's signal could reach out and serve area's that 92.1 could never touch that was a no brainer, today what's the problem, who knows.

You might want to check your ratings history. 92.1 had actually fared pretty well against 97.5 in the past and actually beat them in some demos.

I remember that WWNU was making inroads against WCOS infact I remember when WWNU started WCOS was actually almost using the same slogan as New Country was. Tha only way someone would ever beat WCOS would be to have a 100K stick, and beat Clear Channel at their own radio game. I don't remember how well the classic country format did under DoubleO but from the looks of it 2.8 is pretty good for it and could grow if it is given time to. When The Palm signed on last year I was excited to see what it offered, but everytime I tune in it is some obscure song that I have never heard of thus I will keep listening to WXRY or Radio 104.5 out of Philly or Spotify. I don't think you have to "beat" WCOS to win. Just put on a good station with a good signal and some good talent. Do enough marketing to win some numbers and become a reporting station so you can get some label support. (That might be tough with the way COS bullies record reps)There is nothing wrong with being the second option. You'll make money and be fine.

In fact, If I were a record rep....I would make DAMED sure the number two station in the market was competitive!!! "Oh you won't add my song mr number one pd....The guy across town will, and I think I'll throw in a little acoustic jam session for the effort".

I will agree that cos has it's problems we use to call it having a big head. Still they are the station to beat and they have a long history. The problem with beating them on a demo one is it's a demo and two you have to be able to hold it. Most stations that go against some one like WCOS might take them once maybe twice but holding that position, that's another story.

WEZV was falling but now their numbers aren't even being shown.

They were no. 1 for such a long time.

I hope they're not heading for a change, because that's the only station in Myrtle Beach I can stand.

Doesn't Easy 105.9 sound like the Dove and Easy down in Florida?
Not at all. Not the last time I checked. It's very much like a standards station in this day and age. Not enough like a standards station to definitely call it standards, but close. Pay no attention to sources that call it soft AC because it isn't.
