Columbia ratings

What the heck is happening to The Fox? Steve FM is on a downward trend as well. Even WOMG was down, but still in a steady range (2.0-2.5/3.0 it normally seems). Pretty rough drop for WCOS (although we don’t know what kind of numbers 94.3 is getting…I don’t expect a ton).

93.5 up ever so slightly, but still an absolute embarrassment with The Palm and Alt not far behind it.

WVOC held on to third place again - they seem to be the most successful news/talk station in the state right now, at least in the beauty pageant numbers after a rough 2023 and early 2024. Sounds like they hung on to their listeners after the main primaries were over. Not sure when WVOC was last iHeart’s highest 12+ rated station in Columbia!

If it were not for WWDM, and WHXT carrying the cluster Alpha would be broke in Columbia. Good to see WVOC on an upward trend. With the way some of the quirks for WCOS, and others it has to be weird book placement.

WMFX just sounds outdated and past it’s prime. Steve FM is starting to sound that way too.

WARQ 93.5 isn’t up at all, after I looked again it stayed completely flat and is listed last still behind Alt and the Palm.🤣 I wonder if Alpha ever thought it would be “celebrating” the 10th anniversary of that flip this way LOL.

Alot of the Alpha properties have been swirling the bottom of the toilet for some time. Steve FM is pretty much the same Playlist asc102.9 The Lake in Charlotte. Pretty much Columbia is a ho hum market.

Another round were WARQ 93.5 stays flat at a 0.7 and well below alternative on 99.7 (who has a 1.1) and tied with the Palm again. 🤣

WVOC down a bit and WMFX still way down and staying flat.

Not much changed. Another awful showing for the WARQ 93.5/94.9/99.7 trio of stations, none of them breaking a full point this round.

Meanwhile the stations that I’m guessing have aging demos like WVOC, WMFX and WOMG stayed flat in the 2’s. I’m guessing those regular listeners are on summer vacation?

Interesting to me how WVOC is comatose for an election year, 94.3 in Columbia is dead yet WYRD in Greenville is in the top 3. I guess signal really does matter.

WVOC is back to being comatose in an election year.

WOMG has risen above a 3 share - beating B106.7, The Fox, and Steve FM. They haven’t seen a number that high in ages. I can’t remember when.

The dumpster fire at 93.5 shows no sign of improvement.

Speaking of Cola radio ratings & the Alt 99.7 translator. That made me wonder about something. When my son lived in Cola 8 or 9 years ago, I always loved listening to the low power/noncom alternative format on WXRY 99.3. It’s basically all I would listen to while in town & I was always amazed at how cool that station was for a low power facility. It’s been around for years & obviously must be a love project for the owner, but I always thought it sounded great & seemed very listenable all around downtown especially. I always wondered what the locals thought of it & does it have much of a listenership? I’ve continued to stream it off & on over the years & honestly I always thought it sounded better produced than most full power commercial alts over the years. Anyway, I never hear or see any mention of it, which always surprised me. I just wondered since it’s obviously not rated if anyone else in the market was a fan & what they thought of the station.

I used to steam WXRY a lot but the past several months the stream audio has been poor. First it was much quieter than everything else on TuneIn and the last time I listened it sounded like it had no processing whatsoever. The levels were all over the place and it was unlistenable.

It used to be a stream of the actual air signal and I’m not sure why they stopped that.

I’m listening to it online now on the WXRY website and it sounds okay.

WWDM is on an upward trajectory. WVOC is trending back up as would be expected in the home run of a long running election cycle.

WOMG is down but continues to slightly beat the beleaguered B106.7 as well as The Fox. SteveFM pulled back ahead of WOMG.

The biggest surprise may be WARQ almost doubling its share to a 1.6 - still pitiful, but the best they’ve seen in some time. Alt on 99.7 is trending down.
