Columbia SC Gets A Second CHR - Q-94.3

It debuted at 6 AM this morning and it's called Q-94.3. WWNQ serves the Columbia market, and will give heritage 104.7 WNOK its first direct competition in years.

The first hour included these titles:
Adele "Rolling In The Deep"
Diddy's "Coming Home"
Taylor Swift "The Story of Us"
Lady Gaga "Edge of Glory"
Jay Z "Young Forever"
J-Lo "On The Floor"
Ke$ha "Blow"
Avril Lavigne "What The Hell"
Selena Gomez "Who Says"
Britney Spears "Hold It Against Me"
Pitbull "Give Me Everything"
Nicole Scherzinger "Right There"
Katy Perry "ET"
Justin Timberlake "Sexy Back"
Usher "More"
Wiz Khalifa "Roll Up"
 
Let me tell you! It's unreal. Hugh big market sound and thousand times better than WNOK, in today's marketplace this is a major move. These guys are making radio fun again.
 
I concur, the new Q-94 sounds awesome!
Even though it's jockless right now the music mix is great, there's some good remixes being played, the right Recurrents, and plenty of hot Currents. Also love the voiceover guy doing the liners - they're short and sweet, and definitely grab ya.
Expect WNOK to put up a good fight in the coming weeks.

The next market to get a second CHR? Possibly Tampa Bay, stay tuned!
 
Good for Columbia! I wish Jackson, MS could be getting a second CHR soon.

I was just listening to Q and it's the first station I heard that doesn't censor "sex" in "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars.

Is the promo voice Eric Chaney who voiced Double O's Panama City station WPFM a few years ago?

Tampa did get a second CHR in the form of Hot 101.5. Seem like the owners of Columbia's radio stations are the same way they are here in Columbus Ohio. Nobody want to give Clear Channel a top 40 competitor. In Columbus we've been stuck with WNCI as a solo CHR for years and they too happen to be the sister to WNOK.

I feel like WNOK and WNCI are two of the laziest imaged pop stations in the country (probably cause they're both really old with no competitors)
