Columbus April PPMs

Overall things look pretty stable this month among the publicly-reported stations.

Poor WCOL.  It's lofty and amazingly consistent string of 9.4 shares -- four in a row -- ends this month.  With a 9.7!

The two big-signal rock stations show no signs of a revival.  WLVQ (3.6) and WRKZ (2.7) remain at what may be record lows, down a few tenths each.  In fact, the Brew got a nice bump and now leads both Q (barely) and the Blitz!

And Jack-FM remains MIA, even though the other R1 stations are still shown.  Why can't Arbitron fix a simple omission error like that?  It's not a government agency, is it?

What's up with WTVN? Down from 9.3 to 8.3 Feb to Mar and dropped another 0.5 going into April. Possibly because of Connors being gone? I know that's been since December.

WTVN's numbers were unusually high in the fall.  They hovered around the 7-8 range in the first 9 months of 2011, so they're back into a more-typical territory now.  Though you'd think getting into the thick of a Presidential elections season the numbers might stay high.  Yes, it would be interesting to see how mornings are affecting the overall numbers. Also, re the high numbers in the fall, I wonder if there was any Buckeye effect for them as for 97.1 (of course we don't know what their trend is now since they don't subscribe).

This really sucks that you can't see Saga or Jack. Power really is creeping up on WNCI similar to how they were when they were rhythmic. The music, imaging, and presence is MUCH better now that they have a new PD. I still wish they were rhythmic, but grabbing an 8.0 in this market where the CHR dominates is quite impressive. X1067 is tied with Blitz AQH and beating them PPM. They've already beat their alternative competitor, CD102.5...106.7 finally find their niche? Makes you wonder how Jack is doing since they're hiding it? I don't give it long. R1 would be smart to put on a CHR similar to Radio Now in Indy. With Mix sounding Hot Adult CHR lately, I wonder if they held on to their numbers as well.

FWIW, a month or two ago R1's CEO Alfred Liggins said R1's done with format changes for 2012. Or something along those lines...

Too bad saga don't subscribe anymore. It would also be nice to see how rewind is doing since 1067 went back to alternative.

I noticed 107.1 doesn't show up anymore as well. It's too bad we can't see their 0.7 share.

I think what R-I is showing as "WNNK Hot AC" is actually 107.1 WNKK.  It's got a 0.6.  At least that's what All Access is showing.

Also, I notice All Access does show Jack.  It remained steady at 2.1 in March, but dropped to 1.7 in April (same as Jan).  Interestingly the cume actually went up a tad from March to April despite the share drop.  I wonder if people in some suburban and outlying areas are having trouble receiving it at work?  I know I had to work at it a bit to get it to come in clearly at a relative's home in Dublin.  If that's a problem it would probably hurt 98.9 with any format except an urban-oriented one.

0.6 huh? That's awesome. Maybe when they move to their new studios we might get lucky and they flip it to something else other than country.

I doubt they would pick it up at the new studios either. Looks like all 3 stations need a change. 107.1 definately can use something new. Heck sell it to Saga so they can simulcast Mix like they do Rewind. Keep country on 955 since they won't be competing with 107.1 if they do sell it. As for QFM 96 they should go back to how they were when they started 35 years ago Classic Rock and the Best New Rock. That worked for them before. It might work again. With the current format they have they are pretty much are neck and neck with the Brew along with the 3 Classic Hit stations that almost play the same songs they do. Jack with its classic rock lean would make it the 4th one the Q deals with. I think Jack would do better if they sounded more like Logan's 983 SamFm which has more pop flavored and plays a few currents too.

I wonder if they can even get K95.5 in their current studios .. along with 107.1 with all the tall buildings and the dispatch towers near downtown.. (My guess is they have an FM antenna on the roof of 2nd nationwide to pick up their over air feeds).

Here's another thing I noticed while looking at the ratings. Not only did they classify WNKK as Hot AC they also said it was owned by Cumulus. We don't have anything owned by them here.

looks to me like a typo, and WNNF in Cincinnati was hot AC and owned by Cumulus, also if you look around some WNKK is on the list owned by wilkes but has no numbers for the current month.

Other web sites got the info correct, so again its just a typo

93.3 WODC keeps pressing on with the highest non-Christmas numbers it's ever had!!! Go Clear Channel!

93.3 after all these years FINALLY found that Format that clicked with Columbus which this board was yelling for two years before CC figured it out. :D
