Somone alluded in another thread to a falling ax today. Did I miss something?
 
Well, I got my answer but it came to me in a private message and since nobody on this board is typing it out loud I'll just say "Sad" and leave the rest to Tim Feran.

The cloak and dagger aren't in MY closet. I asked and no one answered. I got a reply sent to me privately but until I substantiate the information, I'm not going to put any names out there.

I will say that I got three names.
I will say they were all CC people.
I will also say that accuracy is absolutely not assured, which is why I asked the question in the first place. I still have friends in that building and I worry about them.
 
InRadio was the initial poster regarding the cuts. A look at his/her past postings shows he/she was among the first to break the CC news last year.
So c'mon InRadio - you clearly are in the building at W. Fifth, don't clam up now! You wanted to be the first on the scene, now is your chance!

My guess: More WTVN news staff.
 
Actually I'm not in the building, just know a lot of people that work there. In the near future you'll figure out who got the ax and the MAJOR changes that are planned as well.

I actually work in that building. Guess I'll keep my eyes open for the sad faces, although they all work on the 2nd floor, so I may not even see them.
 
I was just looking at the 93.3 LZT website and see that Amy Donovan has been removed.
could she be a Holiday cut? :(

Yup, must be. She was on there when I checked the CCC websites this morning. Or maybe moving to 106.7?
 
Oh goody, just what we need, another rock station. The trouble with getting old is the older I get, the harder it is to tell the difference between some of the variations of rock, and nobody wants to program to you because it's assumed when you pass 40, you lose all thout, preference, ability to decide anything, and have no money. Well, one of those might be true.

How cool, we'll have about 8 or 9 variations of rock, and 3 NPR signals all playing the same thing!!!! You know what will happen with 106.7 if you've followed radio at all. It will start out being the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the numbers won't be big enough to satisfy the greed. So then the format will be gradually wattered down and before anyone notices, it will sound just like everyone else, go polka for a week as a stunt, then run the 93.3 format after they go talk.

The station moved in from Marion has been running TV theme songs stunting as "Television 106.7". (Yes, folks, we're well aware that the TV theme format is a stunt.)

The most notable move tabs rock WBWR/105.7 "The Brew" program director Laura Lee to add similar duties at 106.7 in its new format.

That would lend credence, in our eyes, to the prospect of "Television 106.7" launching a some sort of adult-oriented rock/AAA format - though we don't know Ms. Lee or her background before her current PD gig... ::)

I'm wondering if they don't try an oldies format... 50's, 60's; maybe from a satellite? What other format can they go after that doesn't already have more than one station in this market?
 
Did somebody say Polka? Hey, now that's a void in the Columbus market that could be exclusively filled by a new station. Beats having another Rock or Country station. ;)
 
If 106.7 does turn out to be like Radio 94.1 in Cincinnati, then Columbus *isn't* getting another rock station. Radio 94.1 is more Hot AC than anything else (and that's how the trades list it), though quite different from what 97.1 is doing. Unless it veers toward a harder alternative sound, something along these lines could help CC bookend the AC spectrum and squeeze both 97.1 and Sunny, while also drawing from other formats and disenfranchised listeners. (For that matter, so could something like CC's WMMX in Dayton. It may be called Mix, but it isn't at all like 97.1, 94.7 or 93.3...and it's in another galaxy from NCI.)
 
So basically, everybody's been running their yaps and speculating for three days and there has been no announcment. This same non-discussion went on for weeks in Cleveland and the 90% of the supposed changes never happened. How about some real news.

Rumors and guessing games are part and parcel of a board like this, and there's nothing wrong with that as long as it doesn't veer into flaming or create problems for someone.  And haven't you taken some part in this?
