Columbus gains new signal to help Atlanta

Greenville licensed 95.7 WIOL has been granted a construction permit to downgrade from a C3 to a class A and change its city of license to Waverly Hall which improves Columbus coverage.

This is one of the moves required to allow Doraville licensed 95.5 WBTs to move its tower closer to Atlanta.

Good move for Davis Broadcasting, as well as good news for "River" listeners.

Actually The River is a classic hits station on 97.1 licensed to Gainsville, GA. 95.5 The Beat is a hip hop station licensed to Doraville. Both stations are owned by Cox and are sister stations.

LouisNatl, "The River" is a common slogan for classic hits stations. This thread refers to 95.7 WIOL Greeenville/Columbus. It is also used on WSRV 97.1 Gainesville, but that station doesn't even come close to covering Columbus (in fact there is an LPFM on 97.1 across the river in Phoemix City, Al on that frequency).

It's Phenix City, not "Phoemix".
