Columbus Now with three Christmas stations

920 wmni just flipped this morning. I guess 1049 the river is going all Christmas tomorrow. So that will make four altogether.

Why can't we have a station that waits until Thanksgiving is done and then just play a few christmas songs along with their regular format? On Christmas Eve & Christmas Day then play all Christmas music. Anybody else think this is a good idea???

At an AM/FM combo that I worked at in the past that's how we did it. Added a few more Christmas songs per hour as the holiday got close and then on the 24th went to all Christmas music until the morning on the 26th.

Well, considering when Arbitron's 3rd phase of the Fall book started, just makes sense if you want to see any returns. Historically, the station that goes first has a good chance of winning... not always, but the majority of the time. If you don't like Christmas music, then there is always WNCI... :)

Always rememeber, there's logic and there's reality, especially when it comes to anything done in radio. You always have the choice to turn the box off or change the channel. It seems more and more are doing that on a regular basis.

You also have the choice to program to an ideal or reality... people are spending less time with radio because there are more media choices, not because we are playing Christmas music 6 weeks before the actual holiday.

104.9 The River and the other River stations are Christmas now.

I also noticed Smooth Jazz 103.5/104.3 is playing Christmas too.

That's what a internet station out of Columbus is doing. www.rdl101.com They're rhythmic. They're running it on the :20 and :50

You can also add 88.1 and 101.9 that air CDR Radio ""The Path" outside of their preaching times and syndicated shows they are 100% Christmas Music!

Hey Jason, don't be so subtle about plugging yourself. Some of us may have missed it.

I really don't think stations should go 100% Christmas music. Maybe gradually increase the Christmas music the closer you get to the actual day, but 100% Christmas music from Turkey Day till Christmas is major overkill, unless Christmas music happens to be your format.

But that is just my opinion, yours may vary. Now back to the greatest Christmas music ever on your umpteenth All Christmas Music Station in Central Ohio. HO Ho ho! :D
