Comcast finally added 17-2, THIS TV, which is nostalgic on 250, they also added LvWel HD on 245 but it is viewable only with HD subscription, they also added MLB HD 191 and a few others, this is Comcast South and Center City, dont know if they added these in other areas....

We have the same thing on Verizon FiOS. It's a replacement for 6-2 as it is 6-2 (WPVI's second HD subchannel). I'm not sure why neither Verizon nor Comcast provide an SD version since they do this for 3-1, 6-1, 10-1, etc.
???

Verizon and Comcast don't provide an "SD version" of the subchannel because WPVI is not broadcasting an SD version. Both companies simply pass on the feed (in Comcast's case - after adding further compression to the signal) that is provided to them. Neither company is required or has any incentive to down-res and reformat the feed for standard definition.

You're not missing much anyway as that channel is totally garbage both content wise and visually. If you watch both 6.1 and 6.2 OTA, the pictures on both are just horrible on an HDTV. Both signals are compressed to an unhealthy amount to facilitate a 720p picture on both channels and it just makes them totally unwatchable.

WPVI should take a cue from these SD stations ...

as they can give you widescreen without upsetting the HD applecart. :)

Remember, HD quality is serious stuff and nothing to make sport of. :D :p 8)
