Comcast in Southeast craps out during "Jersey Shore"

A major outage going on in the Southeast with Comcast Cable. HD was going in and out, and the show "Jersey Shore", in its finale on MTV along with many other channels are cutting out.

This is affecting the Charleston area along with Savannah.

I just learned that from 10:55-11:00 many of Comcast's channels in the DC area were preempted by Comcast for a Child Abduction Emergency report and a military ad.

I believe in that case that was courtesy of the Emergency Alert System, with that and the military ad sourced from the channel used for EAS.

Annoying, yes. However, MTV will air the orange people season finale at least a dozen times in the next week or so, if not more. And it will likely be "on-demand" for free via comcast digital cable boxes. That's one of the things I like about TV in 2011. There is no appointment television.

Looks like the Emergency Alert system has struck again.
Search your closets and attics, we know that kid is in your house somewhere!!!

Couldn't agree with you more, quad. Send 'em back upstate (NY) where they came from.

And it was not just "Jersey Shore" that was affected--but also (and probably more importantly for many viewers) March Madness coverage on CBS and TBS would have been impacted by the EAS. I wonder if there was similar or more outrage by sports fans as opposed to those of Jersey Shore?

EAS ALERT: A SEVERE OUTBREAK OF MENTAL ILLNESS HAS OCCURRED IN THE SOUTHEAST.
UNAFFECTED PEOPLE ARE ADVISED TO AVOID CONTACT WITH ANYONE WHO WATCHES 'JERSEY SHORE'.
THE 'SITUATION' IS DANGEROUS. ;D
