I'm sure you all have heard the news about comcast possibly buying 50+% of nbc by now. Obviously this would have several effects locally. I'm wondering if anyone would like to do a rundown of some of the possible effects here in Philly.
One thing I noticed reading the thread on the national board, is the fcc doesn't allow a TV station and a cable system in the same market, which would mean wcau would have to be sold. I think that would be good. Ch10 on its own makes millions a year, but as we have seen in recent years the station has been cash strapped, because its parent company, NBC Universal, who is losing money, has sucked every cent ch10 makes for uits own bottomline, and has invested very little in return. CN8 beat them in going HD. A better owner would help that station alot.
