Comcast ON DEMAND

It really (for lack of better term) sucks that Comcast has such a monopoly on the ATLANTA cable market right now. I just read somewhere that other markets have ABC on Demand and ESPN on Demand and other great channels on DEMAND. I subscribe to COMCAST and all I have is CBS on DEMAND and I don't like the CBS shows (except for Kid Nation). I have MTV and VH1 and all but I would rather have FOX on Demand and NBC on DEMAND like other markets. Aren't we TV market 6 or 7? I think we should have all major broadcast networks available for on DEMAND!! In BOSTON they have it....

When is AT&T gonna bring their cable service to ATL.

ABC and NBC On Demand features are only available in O&O markets (The only O&O in Atlanta is Fox WAGA, and they don't have on demand with any cable providers). CBS On Demand is available nationally. The policy will only change with ABC and NBC if the affilates will be willing to go without the additional $$$.

All of the broadcast networks now have on-demand via their websites (and in the case of ABC and CBS, local affilate websites. WSB and WGCL have players integrated into the design of their websites, and both are doing local on-air promotion of the feature. They are getting some compensation for this feature).

What I am looking for is for WSB or WXIA to put local news on Comcast's On Demand feature. The only local content is pay-for-play.

Genius statement there. If you do not have on demand you don't know what you are missing. I have on demand and the DVR. On demand has hundreds of movies alone and tons of programming from many of the major cable netwroks.

Viacom owns CW affiliate WUPA. They originally bought it to make it the CBS affiliate when WAGA dropped their affiliation, but WGCL (at the time Tribune-owned WGNX) agreed to affiliation terms. When they (CBS/Viacom) launched the UPN, WUPA was the logical choice. Since then, it's been an O&O.

True about the O&O part, but CBS did not own the station throughout. CBS sold WUPA (then WVEU) to Paramount Pictures prior to launch in 1995 (UPN was initally a Paramount/Chris-Craft JV, although Chris-Craft bowed out pretty soon after launch). Viacom acquired Paramount that year, and Viacom merged with CBS in 2000. CBS and Viacom split back up in 2006. WUPA, CW (one-half), and CBS are now part of CBS Corporation.
