Comcast sends History, TV Guide to digital

Without notice, Comcast Atlanta (fresh off of running cable lines through that Woodstock homeowners drainage pipes) has made The History Channel and TV Guide Network digital only (126 and 177). They also gave HSN a more favorable channel position at channel 19.

They announced the HSN change...but not the History Channel and TV Guide Channel changes (HSN paying big $$$$$$). I thought 30 days notice was required...guess they don't care.
 
The notice was in fine print on the bill a month ago... at least the bill I get in the City of Atlanta.

TV Guide has a satt feed that does not have the guide, just the programming. Why did Comcast keep the scrolling guide when they moved it to digital? Seem pointless.... I tune-in to the TV Guide channel to wach programming on occasion. The most recent show I folloed was Making News Savannah Style.
 
They did that for those of us with built in digital QAM tuners who do not use a box. I can pick it up on 81.8 in one room and 81.7 on another. The TVGC only lists the analog channels. No guide without the box. I prefer the analog because there is no converter mess. The QAM tuner still gives you the local broadcast stations in HD (98.1 WSB, 98.3 WAGA, 108.1 WGCL, 108.3 WXIA).

Mine is 81.27 (the 27 being the analog position).

108.3 remaps to 11.1, 108.211 to 11.2, and 108.1 to 46.1. Also get WATL-DT on 29.2 and WUPA-DT on 29.810. No WSB or WAGA because of the bad line I use for it (I have a HD/DVR box on a dedicated line - you can't really split a signal to a digital box).

The Weather Channel used to be clear on 81.32, but is now scrambled. Channel 80 is the SD locals. 81 is AIB, local PEGs (Cobb County), TV Guide. 85 has WGN and WATC. 93.1 is Weatherscan (still clear). 99.532 is WUVM-LP. 100.1 is VOD barker (weird screen to support the boxes). 100-63 for WDTA-LP. 104 for C-SPAN 1 & 2, HSN and QVC. 116-2 is PPV barker.

There are others on 5 (WGTV-DT)...but heavy interference blocks them.

Comcast doesn't want to support QAM because of the confusion it causes. They don't want to support cable boxes either, but until a better solution is found that is the way it will be.
 
I got a notice in the mail (not included in the bill) saying immediate action required. The letter stated that the channels you mentioned were moving to the digital tier. The only one I cared about was History, since I watch more than my fair share of that channel. ;)
