Comcast Stockton To Drop KRON-4 On June 26

Well, I got a letter from Comcast that they are dropping KRON-4 San Francisco on June 26. They are not replacing the channel at the time being. The Bay Area channel are becoming slimer and slimer. Now we are down to 3 channels: KQED Channel 9, KOFY Channel 20 & KICU Channel 36.

Was that the deciding factor for Vern Glenn to jump from KRON4 to KPIX (CBS5) ?

You're kidding, right? I'm amazed that Vern lasted at KRON as long as he did - most of their talent jumped ship years ago. I imagine the reason was the chance to work for a real TV news operation.

Of course I was kidding.

That was a no-brainer, work for a low rated, shaky company or work at a Network Owned, Respected News Operation?
I'd done the same thing!!!

I agree -- we've got some pretty slimy channels in the Bay Area.
LOL! Typo: I mean't slimmer. Though I consider KRON a bit slimey!

Too bad. Both people in Stockton who watched KRON must be mildly disappointed.
In my opinion, no big loss. The channel that I usually watch is KOFY TV 20 especially on Saturday Nights when CKMT and Svengoolie are on. Also they are my only outlet fot KGO-7 News since Comcast dropped KGO last November. And KICU for only the repeat of KTVU 10:pM News. Stockton hasn't had KTVU since 1993.

That's around the same time The Fresno Market lost KTVU along with KTXL and KQED on Comcast, it must have been a Valley Wide thing although KTVU came back for about 6 months 4 years ago but not on any box it was only available by connecting the cable directly to an HDTV, it was channel 87.7 on the DTV (cable)tuner.
