Comcast to add 40 HD channels this June

I recently spoke with a Comcast rep and asked to see if there were to be anymore new HD channels added, and she stated that this June, the time of the new DTV transition, they will be adding at least 40 new channels, which will be good, since there seems to be a lot that's missing. Hopefully they will add Nickelodeon HD, as well as E! and Lifetime.

Our local Time Warner system, since the Summer Olympics to this point, added somewhere around 25-30 new HD channels to the lineup along with 20+ plus they already had.

Let's hope so. In my area (New Haven, CT), Comcast has a very poor HD lineup. Given all the recent rate increases, let's hope this doesn't come with a cost.

I remember when I was once a believer of dreams.

Comcast will add a "HD Extreme" tier above all the other required tiers you have to buy to get the new one. I'll bet my hat on that.

Here in Houston, Comcast is taking major heat from the rollout of AT&T's U-Verse. I've see installation trucks trucks at numerous homes in and around my neighborhood where the service was recently launched. Many colleagues of mine have also switched over to U-Verse from Comcast.

Comcast doesn't seem to want to lower its rates to match U-Verse, so they're probably trying to make up the difference with more value.

With the amount I currently pay them now, they should be making me breakfast in bed! :)

You're right!! I didn't even think of that! Talk about a ripoff!

Using the same formulas as Comcast's market-teers, when broadcasters switch to HD this june, there will be tens of thousands of HD channels available for free, over the air ;) .

Hope it doesn't melt my antenna  .
