Not sure if we'll have any interesting guests this time around, but we might...We're working on a guy who everybody likes and you see on TV every single day. (No, it's not Bill Dickason of Southwest KIA. Sorry.)

I updated the website with Radi0chic's alternate streaming address, in case there's any problems this Sunday. Also, BizRadio's lead producer has offered his help in resetting or repairing the stream if needed (thanks, Ed!)

So again, Sunday night, KMNY-1360AM, 6-9PM. Streaming info and show details available at www.thehificlub.net. Thanks!! :)

I want a "Macko & Wacko" reunion! Or, some tape from the freaky "Super XOL" days. John Paul Beard may have some if he is still around-

We had Macko and Wacko scheduled for the last incarnation of the show, but we lost our timeslot before we could make it happen...and now we're up against time as the show will likely go from 3 hours to 1 hour by the 1st of February. It hasn't been forgotten, however!

Looks like I'm all by myself tonight...first time ever that I've been without a co-host (or three.) So hang with me; I'll make the best of it!! Tonight, no guests, but lots of radio news, music news, regular historic news (with some cool and long-lost soundbites) and I'll probably play some of the lost JFK tapes from KXOL, and will do a tribute to the Carpenters (since we lost Karen 25 years ago next week.)

Next week, my plan is to salute "The Day the Music Died," 49 years since Buddy Holly and company lost their lives. Bud Buschardt has tapes of the salute he did on his "57 Nostalgia Place" in 1974...we'll try to get him in the studio with us to play those and to reflect on that dark day.

I might not be home in time to catch you tonight Mike, but the stream is up and running - good luck!

Mike, i'll be listening in also while watching the Packers / NYG game. Stream is running good here. Sorry your by yourself tonight but we know you'll deliver a great broadcast! :)

Great show Mike! I definitely enjoyed the reflecting back on KBOX.. especially since I grew up a few blocks from there back in the late '50s and '60s. I can certainly relate to going around the south side to the windows, tapping on the glass, and getting the DJ's attention! I remember there was a well-worn path in the grass leading to the windows. Countless times I bicycled over to KBOX to rummage through the trash cans!

The audio quality on the internet stream was much better too! Sometime about 40 min into the show the level got turned down and the distortion was pretty much resolved. Sounds to me like they need a good compressor-limiter.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I don't even want to know.

Don't worry.. my parents kept me well fed. ;D I was after the (eventually) hundreds of 45s I carried off, most of which I still have.

BTW looking forward to Part 2 of the KXOL Kennedy tapes.

Several years ago someone gave me a tape, supposedly a copy of a KBOX air check tape from that day, getting the news out first as it was happening, before KLIF. But I have later found out that Time-Life or somesuch released a re-enactment which I suspect is what I have. Real artifacts form that time are most welcome to hear!
