Come on Austin need to get the HD channels!

There is really only 5 new HD channels in Austin. Not real sure if KKMJ is multicasting can anyone confirm that? I am 100% for HD radio, but I dont think very many people will spend a 200$ radio for just 6 new channels. I know they list more over at hdradio.com but they arnt broadcasting in HD yet. Bobfm had their IBOC on for about a few secounds about a week or 2 ago but no more.... They may be trying to promote HD radio to quick. ???

HD Radio is a joke. The technology is not there yet, the bandwidth is awful and you can get more out of Satellite radio. Yes, the HD channels are free, but they are simply a computer hooked up to a transmitter, not any of what's promised in those slick ads that are everywhere right now. The industry bit too early.

I hope that soon most stations will upgrade. I think it would be a good thing for FM. Not so much AM, I dont really think it would work on AM. I dont want to hastle with CS with either sat. company. I have XM on my direct tv, not to impressed with the channels, some are ok. but a lot of them SR stations are ran by a computer also, no dj. I'll still stick with FM/AM and hopefully soon HD-FM.

I THINK THE SLOWDOWN IS THAT ENTERCOM BOUGHTOUT MAJIC 95.5 , MIX 94.7 AND BEAT 104.3 AND THEY DON'T HAVE THE MONEY OR THE RESOURCES TO PUT DIGITAL HD FORMATS ON THESE STATIONS, AND THE UNCERTAINIES OF THE RADIO INDUSTRY.I'VE MYSELF HAVE BEEN LISTENING MORE TO CDS OR INTERNET RADIO MORE THESE DAYS THAN AUSTIN RADIO OR OTHER RADIO STAIONS FROM OTHER CITIES.

Looks like bobfm turned on the IBOC today hopefully it will stay on.

I think they plan on doing smooth jazz on HD-2 maybe that would be a Hd-3 format?

I heard Bob's HD signal this weekend and I think it is the best sounding (processed) HD signal in San Antonio or Austin. Hopefully the Smooth Jazz or whatever is going on HD2 will sound just as good.

IN HD THOUGHTS MMNASSOUR DID SUPPLY ME WITH THE DIGITAL RADIO WEBSITE NAME, THAT IS
HTTP//HD-RADIO/ HD _DIGITAL_RADIO_FORMAT_LIST.PHP. (IN SAN/AUSTIN RADIO BOARD)
