COME TO THE DARK SIDE, DAVE

This was mentioned in pieces in other threads (sorry I don't know how to quote from different threads to give everyone credit)- but with the Zack show failing miserably from what I read here how likely is it Dave would / could lean a little more to the left and go alternative? How are their ratings now - would it help to gain 99X listeners or would they be afraid of losing their current ones?

And someone (deadman maybe?) said Leslie and Steve could be out of their contracts in June.
How cool would a new morning show be- Leslie, Steve Craig and Jimmy Baron? You can't deny Leslie and Jimmy hade great chemistry together whether you liked the music or not.
Just my opinion and wishful thinking but are you listening Dave??

What do y'all think, those of you more directly related to the business?

Personally, I just don't think there's enough alternative music right now to carry a station. If Dave flipped, it'd be like 99x in a new package, but it would still be the same stuff that couldn't succeed on the flagship station that everyone recognized.

>failing miserably<
Geez, I realize we're into instant gratifiaction, but we haven't even a trend on this guy have we? At least let them have one full book before the bullet is administered. I'm waiting at least another week before I give him a critical listen.

Maybe not flip, but tweek their playlist to include a few more "alternative" bands. I enjoy dave now but I would like it to have a bit more edge. Especially during Margot and Orf at night. I have a hard time imagineing Margot enjoys John Mayer and Coldplay, but you can hear more intere4st in her voice when she plays The Cure or The Clash.

Actually they are alot of great bands that are getting ZERO mainstream alternative rock airplay... If Leslie and Steve join DAVE or any station of that matter they would want to start playing 80-90% new music and 10-20% older music.

Great bands by whose definition? Leslie wasn't being told what to play before Cumulus got there and the station was still going downhill, why do people think she holds the key to great alternative music? Her and Steve are older than the people who were trying to fix the station when Cumulus came in. I don't doubt that there are some good bands out not getting any attention, but that only fills such a small niche of the market, that can get you a one or 2 share maybe. The rest of the rock market would be covered by Eagle and Rock 100.5 and Project

OMG - have you haven't read anything or know anything????
There were consultants brought in by Susquehanna determining what gets put on the air.
It was consulting by concenus... alot of hands were in the cookie jar.

Sean, Steve, and Leslie still have the pulse on what is the best alternative rock music out there.

Yeah don't you know that Sean, Steve and Leslie not only walk on water but usually levitate. These gravity-defying 50 year-olds know exactly what a 25 year-old wants to listen to.

Disregard the fact that when they were flying high, alternative stations all over the country were prospering. Pop quiz hot-shot name 5 thriving Alternative station in the U.S. They were lucky. Their talent matched up with an opportunity at the same time as a new genre of music was emerging. That does not mean their taste in today's music would make it as popular as it once was.

OK, so if the station was still doing as well as it had been, why would Susquehanna feel the need to get consultants involved? As many idiots as there are, nobody is going to try and mess around with a winning formula. As RTibbs said, they had good timing and knew what was going on THEN. Their time is passed now, let it go

u r wrong. they do know what we want to listen to . they might have gotten older but they didnt get old. theres a diffrence.

tibbs u do realize foo fighters just won a grammy rite? so somewhere some1 must be listening to it dont u think?
and since we all got slapped by board gods for our posts last night , the board manager said i should xplain to u all i have a cast on 1 arm so i have 2 type with 1 hand so cut me some slack on typos and abbrevations. ok. not that its ur business or ur problem but it takes me 4ever to type, u try it with 1 hand and percocet. not easy

Your argument is based on the Foo Fighters? They have been around for 10 years. I did not say there was no bands left? What is your point? I think you should lay off the pain meds. Rock 100.5 plays the Foos if that is your concern
