COMEDIAN JANE CURTIN JOINING CBS DRAMA "UNFORGETTABLE"

I love Jane Curtain too. I think she is the most under rated SNL performers ever. I wish she'd do another comedy though.

If a lateral move to dramatic acting didn't bode well for Jim Carrey, I don't see how "Allie" doing it will fare any different.

Also, I predict a cameo from Susan Saint James in the near future.

A lot of actors move back and forth seemlessly between comedy and drama. Ted Danson started with small parts in dramatic films, then moved almost entirely to TV comedy until he got a continuing dramatic role on Damages a couple of years ago, and is now doing both a comedy (Bored to Death on HBO), and a drama (CSI). Richard Belzer was a stand-up comic and talk-show host (on Lifetime) before he became the laconic and dour Detective Munch.

There's no reason to think that Jane Curtin can't do the same.

Actually, Belzer showed up on SNL as a sort-of-featured player in the 1975 season - he was also the warm-up guy before the broadcast began. Outside of his own standup on the show (which he did only once, I believe) he was most memorably the Chevy Chase "impostor" who had supposedly taken over Weekend Update while Chase was hospitalized.

OK...but my point was that Belzer was primarily associated with comedy, then moved to TV drama on Homicide and Law and Order SVU.

Also, in relation to the top post: Jim Carrey is a perfectly good dramatic actor as well, though perhaps the box office receipts have not been as good for his dramas. For example, he got very good reviews for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

richard belzer had a stand up career before saturday night live.he appeared in the 1974 movie the groove tube.so he may not have been nationally known he had a good carear in comedy.he did move to serious acting from comedy and is good at both.i saw him on a showtime or hbo program where a bunch of comics sat around and just ad-libed and he was still funny.

i always saw jane curtan as an actress who performed outragious comedy skits as opposed to a comedianne.

Comedy Central ruined Jane Curtin for me.
Even when she was Allie, all I could hear was "You ignorant slut!" but in Dan Aykroyd's voice. :D
