Comet TV coming to KTVK .3.2

According to Rabbit Ears and Comet TV's Web site Comet TV is coming to Phoenix on KTVK 3.2.

Science fiction reruns and bad movies (at least, the latter should be entertaining, if they're bad enough. :D ). But then again, endless reruns of GMAZ and the other KTVK newscasts don't exactly draw an audience, do they?.

So, we are losing the reruns of 3TV news? I actually watch those in the early evenings. I don't get home until 7pm (and there are no local newscasts until 9pm).

They do have "Mystery Science Theater 3000" and the Godzilla movies from the '50s and '60s, so I wouldn't consider it a waste myself. Plus, it won't be in 16:9-squeezed-to-fit-4:3 "Blur-O-Vision" that 50.3 currently gets away with.

They could move the news reruns to 3.3 and open up 5.3 for the weather (which shouldn't take much bandwidth). I doubt they'll get rid of both since they have contracts to fulfill for the three-hour-rule kids shows they have to air.

Emailing KTVK, 3TV, and asking Seth Parker, Programming Director, if he would
verify COMET TV coming and a starting date.

" No. Not yet. Comet jumped the gun on their website. That said, there are some things in the works."

Director of Local Programming

Comet has new and old versions of Outer Limits.....a lot of the B movies they show suck....A lot of Godzilla and similar...MST3K is on Retro for those markets with that channel....but its a nice addition to Comet....Comet is a joint operation of Sinclair and MGM (so you see a lot of their old B movies there).....Hopefully it will get better...I hate their overnight stuff though....showing clips from space missions and Hubble shots...runs tooo long and is boring after a while...would rather see a B movie instead :(

I got just about the same response from GM Ed Munson in an e-mail.

Comet did take down the 3.2 listing from their website, and did not revert back to 50.3 (it just says "Comet is not available in your area. Watch our stream instead"). Now that the cat's out of the bag, I hope the folks at Meredith Phoenix go forward with these changes. I'm not holding my breath though.

Well, after sending an email to the owner of KFPB, he responded back saying that the 3.2 listing was a "mistake." However, they never reverted back to 50.3, which CenturyLink lists as carrying on Prism TV at channel 55. The Comet conundrum continues...

UPDATE: Comet's website now re-lists Channel 50.3 as their affiliate in Phoenix. So, it appears if you have no line of sight to the South Mountain towers (and even with that, it's a catch), you're pretty much out of luck. The streaming option is still available, but not feasible for viewing on TVs.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but there's been multiple reports that Comet TV has made it to Meredith's KCTV 5.2 in Kansas City. Is KTVK 3.x next? KFPB-LD has been off the air for the past couple days, so no way to tell what's going on there.
