"Comics Unleashed" Renewed For Eighth, Ninth Seasons

I thought that it was long out of production, even though I know I still see it late nights.

Consider the production company/distributor. They probably do produce 10-20 episodes a year, but it's a 5-day-a-week 30-minute strip. That's probably how they get away with calling it them "new seasons." Same deal with Byron's court reenactment shows.

I haven't seen Comics Unleashed for years here in Seattle. I just can't get why someone don't want to have Byron Allen in late night anymore...

Eric Stein's post makes the most sense. Apparently they do a handful of shows and call it a "season." I remember the days when TV "seasons" were full years---in the early days, at least 39 episodes, then 26, then 22, now what? Three? :)

Is that show cheap for stations to air? Or barter? I can't see a station paying much for a show that only produces like 20 new shows a year and airs 5 days a week.

I was looking at the syndicated discussion show "Our World with Black Enterprise" on the TV listing the other day (Doesn't air here). This weekend's episode is from NOVEMBER! The next week's episode is a LAST SEASON RERUN! Talking cheap or what? Their website is http://www.blackenterprise.com/our-world/. It's hosted by Marc Lamont Hill.

A number of smaller syndicators, especially ones that specialize in sparsely-viewed "E/I" programming, package their programs as "seasons," even if they only make a handful of new episodes each year.

I remember a programmer telling me that the now-defunct Heritage Networks brokered out time on stations for the programs they distributed in the early-2000's, including "Showtime at the Apollo" and "Weekend Vibe." I have a feeling that Entertainment Studios does the same thing, but I'm not completely sure. It seems strange that most of their programs air on a single station group where I live.
