I hope that DirecTV takes clean, uncompressed feeds of XM's channels instead of taking them directly from the XM satellites. If not, that would disappoint my listening experience.

I have both XM and Sirius as well as Sirius on Dish Network satellite TV, and if XM follows the same route on DirecTV, they will probably take direct, uncompressed feeds of the audio. That's what Dish Network does with Sirius and the sound is much better than the regular Sirius sound. I would guess DirecTV will do the same with XM. I have a good friend who works for DirecTV doing installations, so I will check out the DirecTV XM feed when it comes on and see how it sounds. This is great. Now both services are available on satellite TV.

'Bout Time.

It only makes sense for DirectTV to start offering XM channels. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner, especially with Dish offering Sirius. This will be great, especially if the audio is superior to the XM satellite feeds. I could then use the DirectTV service for airchecking and for broadcasting throught the house on my little FM transmitter, and just use the SkyFi in the boombox or the car.I have DirectTV service and can't wait for the XM channels to come on board. Any info on exactly what channels will be available?

DirecTV & Music Choice

According to posters on dbsforums.com, DirecTV will be dumping Music Choice when XM is added. Wondering when some cable systems might start going the same direction?

Re: DirecTV & Music Choice

I got direct tv and well that made up my mind, lol I couldnt decide on what kind of reciever to get for home, I was mostly going to listen to it at home anyways, I'm very glad that they are doing this, wish it didnt take them so long though to decide on doing it!

Re: DirecTV & Music Choice

Wish DirecTV would be keeping MusicChoice (MC), as all but one of their channels have NO ANNOUNCERS. Also MC has an all-instrumentals easy listening channel: XM's Sunny 24 has vocals as well. Dish kept their nearly 50 Muzak channels when they added Sirius. Why can't DirecTV carry MC and XM? Although MC is on a lot of digital cable systems, there are vast areas of the country where cable is not and probably will never be available.

DirecTV Channel 800 is now an XM information channel, and has a list of all the channels being carried (including O&A/High Voltage) and where they will reside on DirecTV.

Music Choice? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Who cares. Those channels had absolutely zero personality. I certainly won't miss those channels if they are going. Even with all their jockless and dj-lite channels, XM is WAY better than Music Choice.

Well, if you want music with no jocks, there's always IPod.

This is a bad thing for most business customers. Most bars and many restaurants use DirecTV's music choice as their background music. It's perfect since there are absolutely no commercials or imagers...just back-to-back songs. All of the XM channels carry imaging sweepers, promos, and many feature DJ's chatting it up. Most places of business are not going to like that. I bet that this change will cause many places to switch to DMX or Muzak.

MusicChoice will be available to business customers only without a need for Cable or DirecTV, just as it has been for years. They have dealers who will install the equipment to receive it from another satellite. Commercial rates BEGIN at around $500/year. They will NOT sell direct to residential customers unlike DMX, who will sell direct for around $200/year.

I cannot wait. I have Sirius. I also have Directv. I have been thinking about getting XM also. Now I'll get to preview it in the relaxation of my home.

Re: DirecTV & Music Choice

While I have no idea what "bofing" is, I do have concerns over this replacement.

I happen to be a big fan of Music Choice's "Retro-Active" channel, and from what I can tell from looking at XM's website, neither of their Modern Rock classic channels are going to be my cup of tea. One mixes in more recent Alternative and the other doesn't go deep into albums, if I read right. And apparently XM has announcers and image sweepers?

I would honestly appreciate it if some of you who are XM subscribers would clue me in better than XM's website does on what I should expect come mid-November. Thanks.<P ID="signature">______________

Just signed up for Directv. I can't wait.

XM sounds like crap on Direct TV because of a problem with DTV (How they are streaming it) (Most XM channels sound like crap)I cant believe they havent fixed it by now (Actually i can.......)
