Coming Soon: Yet Another "TMZ" TV Show

Wow I was thinking that HLN should be flipped to TMZ. The reason is that the content of HLN is too hybridized between TruTV and TMZ. I know TMZ is owned by Time Warner but they should consider removing HLN and convert it to TMZ on Cable and get rid of the HLN brand and put it to sleep if the TMZ on TV and TMZ Live works in more places besides LA and NYC.

It's called "TMZ Live" and it launches in L.A. next week.

Is this the same "TMZ Live" that currently "airs" over the Internet daily?

Probably. I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

They tried that same Internet/broadcast combination with "Tom Green's House Tonight" in 2008. How did that work out?

With the multiple airings locally that TMZ has between KTTV and KCOP (five times a day), it'll be somewhat refreshing to have some new content from them. I do watch the show occasionally, and it's not as trashy as the celebrity tabloid shows.

From a scheduling standpoint, it probably would have been better to merge the midday newscasts (each at 10am and noon--half hour apiece) into a single hour, and then put TMZ Live in one of the other time slot, instead shuffling another program into KCOP. But then again, this is a test run, so nothing's permanent.

Fox's test runs for other shows always include a wide range of timeslots across their stations. In some markets test shows like The Kilborn File aired at 6 or 7, in Phoenix always at 10:30, etc.
