Comment On What "Fox 25 Morning News" Might Do On August 31st

According to the homepage of the "Amercian Idol" website, auditions for "American Idol 5" will be held Wednesday, August 31st, at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

Believe it or not, I wouldn't be very surprised if WFXT-25's three-hour (6-9 A.M.) morning news show that day, apart from a few brief headlines/weather/traffic segments, is devoted entirely to coverage of the "Idol" auditions.

Would Fox 25 do such a thing?? Well, according to what was posted on the Oklahoma board last May, the Fox station in Tulsa (the market nearest to "Idol 4" winner Carrie Underwood's home) devoted almost all of it's 9 P.M. (Central time, equivilant to 10 P.M. Eastern time and right after the "Idol 4" finale) local news on the night Underwood won the title (May 25th) to "Idol" and Miss Underwood's victory.

Thus, it would not surprise me if on the last morning of August, "Fox 25 Morning News" becomes one big three hour plug for the "Idol" auditions that day, and of course, "American Idol 5", coming in January to Fox.

you're probably right..
but CBS 4 would do the same thing if Survivor was doing something here.
ABC and NBC affiliates also do the same stupid stuff.
It's not just Fox.

Fox has a lot of shows that work with these kinds of plugs, too. 7News would never have Law & Order stars in the studio, but if American Idol were on NBC, that would likely be different.

Remember when The Early Show's ratings went up due to Survivor interviews? It was an ingenius idea to revive the Bryant Gumble and Jane Clayson show that was dead in the water, though Survivor's buzz was short lived and The Early Show gained few new viewers.

They're expanding it to 5-9am beginning August 15. Plus, noon newscast should
be launching in the fall which all means bad news for 4.

They couldn't be airing a noon news in the fall, they acquired TONY DANZA for that slot.

No need to shout, TONY. 11:30-Noon is the planned 'noon' news slot.

No intent to shout, it's an old writing style instead of using quotes.
