This is a long post, if Radio-Info won't let me fit it all in one message I will make a "part 2".
I have got all the radio stations in Columbus in one big list on my computer and I am going to rate them based on their sound. Let's start with AM Radio.
610 WTVN (News/Talk): Good! Although I am a more progressive talk fan, when I want to hear what's going on in the city I turn on 610. I think honestly, it's not going anywhere for a long time if it does go anywhere, it will be to the #1 position in the ratings like it was. I give 610 a 10!
790 WHTS (Talk): Never heard of it. Can't pick it up, it says it represents Heath (Licking). 610 is strong enough to pick up just about anywhere near Columbus so I'd say waste of listen time unless it's a exclusive local station. If it's for Columbus, then nah. No rating.
820 WOSU (Public/News/Talk): I mean, ok. It represents OSU and has a name out there. So, I'd say leave it be and don't be afraid to tune it in. I give it a 8.
920 WMNI (Standards): Well, in my opinion I call the station Baseball Oldies WMNI because they play more baseball games than oldies or standards. I heard it one time in a doctor's office and after that, nope. The station has potential for older folks so leave it. Rating- 7
1230 WTPG (Progressive Talk): Well, I am a democrat (like it matters) so I enjoy listening to them but what I don't enjoy is hearing them rant on about how much they hate the president. The president is the president. Get used to it. I liked it better at Fox Sports Radio. I give it a 7 1/2.
1270 WUCO (Religious): They're out of Marysville (Union) so I guess it gives the city a alternative for religious music. Nothing against it. No rating.
1320 WLOH (Oldies): Ok, out of Fairfield. How far! Don't know since I can't listen to it. No rating.
1430 WCLT (Oldies/Talk): Out of Lancaster? Waste of frequency. I mean, duh! WMNI, WODB, think about it. I rate it 5. If that.
1460 WBNS AM (Sports): Very surprised to see it so far down in the ratings considering it's a ESPN Radio simulast. Good fan of it. Not going anywhere. Rating= 9
1550 WXOL (CHR-Spanish): Good, there is a spanish CHR station. Competitior against WSMZ 103.1 now that they're oldies. I say merge and make a good oldies station and put 103.1 back at Urban. Rating is 6.
1580 WVKO (Black Gospel, well not anymore): Station got pulled off the air not too long ago because of being bankrupt so it's dead air. I would have something run on there though, even if it's a simulcast of 103.1 WSMZ or just streaming a satellite radio station. Rating= A Dead Air NOTHING.
Here we go people.. FM TIME
88.1, I THINK simulcasts Dayton's WCDR 90.3 but not sure. WCDR in Dayton has quite a bit and the programming is half decent. College/Religious station. Rating= 7
88.5 WLRY (Christian): Never really tuned in. There's lots of christian stations but always gotta have one in the lower frequencies in my opinion so leave it I guess. No rating.
88.7 WUFM (Christian Rock/Rap): I like Radio U. Good to put in Columbus. I doubt it leaves and don't want it to. A good alternative from the garbage on 107 now for teens. I give it a 9.
89.1 WJJE (Religious): Out of Delaware, that's far, gotta praise the Lord down there, lol. Keep it. Rating= 6
89.7 WOSU (Public/Classical): Are you crazy? This station is so big with the public it's not even funny. As long as the college exists, this will too. I vote Six for Succeed.
