commercial free N/T programs?

How will they be financed if there aren't any commercials? I can't see a talk show drawing much of an audience unless the host does a fairly decent job, and if he does a fairly decent job the station is going to sell commercials.

Actually, I think it would be great if some talk stations would use some of their weekend 60 minute (or more likely 55 minute) segments thay can't sell for novice hosts to get experience. It would be better than all those "best of" segments.

they would 'embed' the advertising, rather then run spots. They have been doing this on TV for years due to the TIVO...

Right. Like when the host takes a little pause for a beverage, he could "Excuse me while I take a sip of my Maxwell House Coffee" or he could say "While driving to work today in my new Chevrolet...".

Doesn't the Glenn Beck show kinda do this?

You hear "This hour of the Glenn Beck Program is brought to you by *insert brand*"

That would work for the national host but the local station would still require avails. Looks like the best bet for this remains NPR.

they do, but they have to break at :30 for local affiliates.

However, non syndicated local programs could do this with ease.

Let's see if the Ipod revolution will change radio the way Tivo changed television.
