Commercials that kill...

Not to sound like Andy Rooney, but I hate certain commercials and when they come up I immediately switch stations to avoid them. Often, I find that an hour or so later I realize I've missed some program I'd otherwise have listened to because I forget to switch back. My current nominees for most irritating, moldy, nasty ads...

--Cars for kids ("One eight seven seven cars for kids...")
--IdentityGuard.com ("I told them Everything...NOoooooooooooooo...")

Thank God bad commercials eventually get the hook. What commercials do you find unlistenable and wish would Go Away?

Hate to sound insensitive but how about the US Census commercial where the Native Americans sing about taking the census and it's ten questions? That one really grates on me like nails on a blackboard.

Cars for kids has to be the worst commercial of all time. Possibly the most overplayed too. Another one I hate is "instead of daycare I wanted mommycare".

Just love the beta prostate commercial where it is equal to taking 100 sal palmetto capsules a day and the other one for men where the woman says "size matters size matters if size did not matter why would a cable network create a show about a well endowed man" The product is called prolexis i believe.

Just tired of hearing those commercials!!!

In Providence there was a commercial that talked about what you should be hearing on a quality broadcast, then said you aren't, because "This is NOT a quality broadcast"

Uh.... what?

How about the spot where the guy is on the couch waiting to watch his game and his wife is asking that he let the kids watch something else, but he won't budge from his "lucky couch" and they head off to the basement. He talks in time with the football theme. He has to be the most selfish and annoying twit around. To top it off the company "that will remain nameless" bought huge amounts of time on every station. You could not escape hearing it every hour. It sure didn't make me want to purchase their product.

The one product commercial that really drives me crazy is Ovation Cell Therapy shampoo/cream rinse. Talk about being "snake oil".

As a runner up, any commercial that Marjorie Handel (wife of Bill) does on KFI. I'm sure she is a very nice lady, but her voice is just like nails down a chalkboard to me. Very painful to hear her speak.

Since I've moved I no longer hear Cars for Kids but somehow I would catch myself with the jingle in my head even singing it out loud when boredom struck. I now have a most hated ad in the one for Iowa Jobs dot Org. Starts with a woman calling her boss and saying that she won't be in because her mother died. The guy challenges with "didn't your mother die last month". The woman comes back with the doctor resuscitated her at the funeral then launches into the new excuse of her son who she just adopted from Romania being ill.

Well you get the idea. I'll take a hundred plays of Cars For Kids to that one which doesn't even have a snappy jingle to infect my brain.

I hate that PSA about buzzed driving where they are coming home from a party and get in a crash, and the passenger says that she is fine, but she is not and then cracks her bone, I mute whenever I hear that commercial.
