Stern, Clem, Whoever! Fact is..There's just not enough cash in (sirius or xm) to go around at this point. Commerical free radio? maybe today! But down the road look for double dipping. cable TV started out the same way. Now look at it!! nothing but lame programming, hours & hours of "PAID PROGRAMMING" & much of it has lots & lots of commericals. Its a joke. Never again I say! I'll stick with free radio & try to turn the vol knob down every time I hear an annoying commerical.

I disagree, there is a lot of great stuff on basic cable, THANK GOD for basic cable.

Stern's show on Sirius will have "some" commercials.....there's been no attempt to hide that fact since the announcement he would be moving there......A few commercials won't scare off Stern fans, you know why ? THE CONTENT SUPPORTS IT ! Bottom line, people want to hear Stern, commercials or not. I think the real benefit of his move to Sirius, is the uncemsored nature of the show......but what's lesser known is that, I believe, he won't be on-air on Fridays ! Likley a ''weekly wrap up'' best of on Friday's.

correct me if i'm wrong, but that is a lesser known fact.

I wish Howard Stern well. But I guess I am old, and brittle. I just don't get it I guess. Why the jubilation? Why the dancing in the streets? ALL hail Sirius! "Oboy another place we can hear F@CK and SH&T!" THAT will make our lives complete!

That's what we need more of. That will make this planet a better place..Thank God we have a new place to hear Howard the way he is supposed to be heard..full of cool swear words, and more talk about boobies and heinys!..heee heee..Lot's of wealthy and well educated listeners who'll do whatever he says, and buy it because Howard says for us to. The sponsors will get thier money's worth all right. Embarrassing!

And I must disagree about cable TV. There, we can all learn about the charming Louie the Talking Trout, and Veg-O-Matic, and all about Ron Popiel and his amazing Showtime Oven, and some of my personal favorites..The George Foreman Grill (Do you know most people don't even know he was a sports figure?..Most people think he makes grills and installs mufflers) The Juiceman, The Rug Doctor and the all time favorite gift "Video Cat-Nip" Oh there's Cortislim, and NutriSystem, and Blue Hippo Computers..where you can get a 500.00 "Famous Name" computer for only 36 easy payments of 39.95!l2600.00 payable over 3 years. "And its a "famous name" computer..." I never knew 'Abraham Lincoln'(tm) computers..were so good!

No, Cable TV, and satellite channels open our small world to the wonders of Chris the Knife Guy, and Body by Jake..and so many others keeping us all company in the wee hours of the morning as we try to stop the bleeding from cutting off the tip of our thumbs with the Ginsu 3000 cleaver. Sirius will run the radio versions of these..bet on it.

As usual, a fine explanation, Jeff.

What no one seems to realize is just how few people are really going to hear this stuff. When you combine that with the irreparable damage done to Infinity,(who blew up numerous stations in a show of loyalty to Howard over the CC fiasco, only to have him spit in their faces) this is a lose-lose proposition.

And BTW, after this post I read Jeff's post further down where he DOES make the same point about audience...

If Howard can do the same show he does on regular radio, he might succeed, but my feeling is that once any restrictions on him go away, the show will decline. His mystique is the way he can push the envelope. Once hes consistenly over the line, it will get old fast. Same with Bubba.

Agreed 100%.... I mean really, what are they going to do? Get live performances from the porn stars?

I will always maintain that this was just a money-grab by Howard, who knew his time was basically up.<P ID="signature">______________

I hate you, Jeff, because I find it so damn hard to disagree with you. Thanks buddy, I always look forward to your comments.

Jeff...just this morning at 3:30 AM I learned the secret of making $10,000 a month in my spare time at home. And yes, won't it be great to hear Howard with no censorship. Not to be outdone by the much anticipated return of Bubba! How people went about their lives without Bubba is amazing! Seriously, the novelty will be short lived. Sadly, the language has become part of the fabric in America and the taboo words are used matter of factly in our everyday lives. So, unless Sponge has in his absence become a comedic genius or increased his IQ, the act won't work outside of Tampa Bay. Yes, old and brittle...but you know, in my life, I'm tired of punks with foul mouths and bad manners.
