Volunteer run stations are great for learning the business. It's sad that there are financial challenges. A station in Illinois, USA is having a fund raiser http://www.news-gazette.com/arts-entertainment/local/2014-02-12/art-show-performances-benefit-weft.html to help defray costs. Could it be possible to do something similar for this station in the U.K.?

Part of running a radio station is making money to pay the bills... Should that be part of the program at all non-comms?

A lot of UK community radio stations are starting to struggle. Many now automate large slabs of their output.
