Community Urbans that I wish were streaming

KMOJ Minneapolis
http://www.kmojfm.com/

KJMC Des Moines
http://kjmcfm.org/index2.html

KAZI Austin
http://kazifm.org/

Any bets on who of these 3 will stream again first (KAZI and KMOJ streamed long ago, I don't think KJMC has ever streamed).

I really like all 3 of these stations alot. If I had to place odds I would say KMOJ which seems to be the most active in updating and enhancing its website these days. About a month ago, there was also a note on the site indicating that they would like to add a stream.

There are some community urbans that do stream. Here are 3 notable ones:

KBBG-FM Waterloo, IA

KCEP Las Vegas

KPOO San Francisco

I posted this message just over a year ago. One of the 3 legendary community urbans that I was hoping would stream has finally blinked!

The first one of this group to stream at long last is KAZI-FM Austin!

http://kazifm.org/

KMOJ and KJMC still would love to have you join the club. By the way, another community urban that I checked out recently WUVS in Muskegon, MI really sounded pretty good to me. I like the voicers.

KAZI has a nice stereo stream with Live 365. Southern Blues and Jazz tonight. They still run Walt Love's Countdown on Saturdays.

KMOJ Minneapolis has a newly revamped website and is promising a "live stream" soon. Hopefully that will be of the radio station terrestial programming.

WKKC is awesome! Great to hear they are back online. Lots of veteran Chicago air talent like Al Greer and a great music mix.

The Big DM out of Columbia, SC #1, heritage station. They need to get with the times. They're still not streaming :( but I'm in Charlotte & can pick them up sometimes-off the chain!

Hot 105 in Montgomery, Hot 103.5 in Columbia and the Big DM! I use to live in Columbia and I did a tour at that station (Big DM) when I was like 5 I remember my mom calling when we moved and they basically said goodbye to us as we were driving away to Texas :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Wassup with NONE of Clear Channel's Montgomery,AL stations not streaming (HOT 105.7, Magic 97, Hallelujah 104.3)? Fairly odd!

I must say growing up in South Carolina The Big DM 101 FM ran the state. When HOT 103.9 launched they killed the "original" hip-hop/r&b DM. Since then, Inner City bought HOT 103.9 from Rainbow Radio making HOT hip-hop and DM urban ac. To this day neither stations are streaming :-\

Yeah, it's strange. Even markets in the 200's are streaming now. Market 80 something?? I think it's the management don't want to spend the money & pay roylties, even though they would easily recoupe that. None of the six stations in the cluster are streaming. Chris Connors, the PD, the listeners & the staff all want it, but management won't budge.

Yes, only a handful of FMs are resisting now.

KPWR Los Angeles
WRKS New York

as well as urban stations in Omaha, Louisville, Dayton, Toledo and then smaller markets though probably the vast majority of smaller markets are also streaming now.

Not much point in the Big DM streaming---the 40% commercial load would have to be cut out, and Steve Harvey and Micheal Baisden, which can be heard almost everywhere, take up a good bit of the broadcast day. DM used to be the bomb and really did rule SC at one time---no more. This station has been destroyed.

Destroyed?? No, I'm in Charlotte, I still listen to The Big DM. They've got all the Charlotte stations beat. They're #1 in Columbia, nearly double the nearest competitor. The Big DM has two 8 minute stop sets an hour, during key local dayparts. They can make alot more online. I think the computer system is one reason they're not. All the ICBC stations in SC are test markets for WideOrbit Automation (formerly Google Automation) & there are alot of glitches in the program. I wish they would break the stop sets up, maybe three an hour, bc 8 minutes of commercials you're loosing listeners that way.

At long last, community urban KMOJ Minneapolis has got the stream up! :)

KMOJ isn't the greatest station in the world, but I lived in the Twin Cities for several years so it sort of is a slice of home.

And now as of this hour, KMOJ has taken down the stream from its website!

What the? That stereo stream sounded good too.

According to a post on KMOJ's Facebook page a few days ago, the live stream is coming this summer. I will be watching and waiting! Perhaps the temporary one was just a test.

The GM of KMOJ e-mailed today that the new stream should be up sometime this weekend :)

Alright, KMOJ just posted that flycast stream back up, hopefully it will stay for awhile :)

KMOJ is upgrading its signal to better cover the Twin Cities metro and not just Minneapolis but it seems to me a stream is another way to accomplish this goal on a much wider scale.
