Compairing 92.5 The Box And Z 93 Jamz

I was compairing the playlists today for both stations on YES.com and The Box wins in my opinion over Z 93 Jamz. For one Z 93 has played much more slower songs compared to that of The Box. 92.5 has played "All I Do Is Win", "Beamer, Benz Or Bentley", and a couple Gucci Mane songs, along with some other harder hip hop songs which Z 93 Jamz have not played yet. And that is taken from since 10am till a little after 3pm that I looked at the playlist for both stations. So in general 92.5 The Box just seems harder then Z 93 Jamz.

Although I do agree that THE BOX Playlist is a little better, I feel that they could do better and play more new hip-hop songs than they are, it seems as if they're putting older songs back on the playlist. I think that they should just go ahead and show us the best they got and just start breaking new music everyday and stop playing so much of this slow music. I understand that THE BOX has to play some slower songs to keep their "urban" status but they can do it by playing more newer hip-hop. I was talking to one of THE BOX's representatives a couple of months ago and she said that they are just getting started and that we haven't seen anything yet. I hope that is true. I repect Z93 because they are the heritage urban station here, but I think THE BOX will be around for a lil min

I feel playing some of the older hits like; Shoulder Lean, Walk It Out, Hustlin', Kiss Kiss are a big plus for The Box to play. Not many Urban stations play much stuff from a couple years ago. Always good to hear it mixed in with the current hip hop. Not sure what else The Box can do to sound better. How about commerical free Monday's as some stations do.

Haven't had a chance to checkout both stations as a recnt. Now I do hope 92.5 The Box gets it together because there are lacking personality. No 5pm nor 9pm mixshow, no countdown and no live club broadcast on weekends. Also a midday female personality with listener interaction(topic of the day, email, fax, call ins) would help too. So sad to see Jay Tek go but hopefully Micheal Tee will see it'll take more than commercial free music to win. Charleston is a very non predictable Urban market. POWER 94.3 and HOT 98.9 both lost to Z93 years ago. On the Urban AC side STAR 99.7 came in and took down MAGIC 107.3 so The BOX still has a chance (imo).

I agree wit you Shawty_Black, i'm just a little disappointed that they don't have a 5PM mixshow or a nighttime mixshow, and they seem to be adding more new R&B than Hip-Hop, they should put Divine Martino either in the middays or the afternoon drive because they are just sounding so predictable these days. The weekend mixshows aren't even like they were when they first started. Idk what's goin on but they just sound to watered down to me. It's okay to play some recurrents but with no mixshows except the LUNCHBOX Mixshow, they really need to get some personality and just go ahead and blow Z93 out the water because Z93 is not anything to be messed with. So its time to stop playing mr. nice guy and just start going in with the new music (more hip-hop) there is plenty of new songs they could play (i.e. Rick Ross-Aston Martin Music, Lil Boosie-Better Not Fight, Wiz Khalifa- Black & Yellow just to name a few) but we'll see how it plays out but THE BOX needs to stop playing and give us what other urban radio stations are missing, which is breaking local artists and new music first, I mean they say THE BOX IS HIP-HOP, well let's start acting like it. Just my 2cents.

Another thing 92.5 The Box has was to get a good morning show with Ricky Smiley. But then at 10 they should have a female DJ, Mack can still be a DJ put him on the 2 -6 shift then place DJ D-Nyce 6 till 10. At 9pm DJ D-Nyce can host Chucktowns top 9 at 9 Countdown. At 5pm on Sean Mack's slot have a 5pm Rush Hour Mix. This could all possible work.

An 8pm countdown would be better airing before Z93's Top 9@9. A 9pm Mixshow would steer listeners from Z93 that don't wanna hear the same songs every night at 9pm. Most Urban and Urban ACs stations have female midday personalities to gain more female audience thats listening at work and even online. Sure Sean Mack could move to afternoons and move D-Nyce to nights. Him and LUV could team up and create one hell of a night show. What would really help them is Charlamagne doing nights. Whatever happened to that situation? Sorry, but I don't think Apex is investing much money in 92.5 The Box. STAR 99.7 seems to be the main focus, but as we see Apex will flip a station in a heart beat.

I didn't know z93 had their countdown show at 9. I just said 9 beacuse of 92.5. Chucktowns Top 8 at 8 on 92.5 The Box. Could be called that. As for Star 99.7 isn't of lot of it syndicated morning and evenings not sure about during the day. Also now Apex got country to try to compete with The Wolf and WEZL. Anyways I believe Apex will put their money into The Box as it sells well with Star 99.7, but we know Apex put their money into B 92 at the start local morning show and live through out the day into the evening. Then went to Kidd in the morning and some night show.

Getting back to The Box its young still and ways to go. We shall see.

Charlamagne was on about a month ago with D-Nyce for the whole 2-6 timeslot and i've haven't heard him on there since.

They also have billboards up around the city saying listen and win cash prizes but that hasn't started yet. Their playing a 20 second promo saying 'it will change the way you listen to radio, it will change your heart rate, it will change your life, keep listening for details' so thats probably in relation with those billboards.

Their mixing on Friday nights now and not just on Saturdays but it does sound recorded.

Kelly Blaze sounds the liveliest out of all the DJs there with Divine coming in second. They should be moved to weekdays. Sean Mack sounds like a rookie he doesn't sound the way he did when it was B92 he was a bit more full of life back then. I like D-Nyce & Flu Season but they're kind of monotone. As for mixshows they need a DJ(s) who can be live in the studio mixing.

I was listening to HOT 107.1 in Memphis last night via the web and they did something that I haven't heard a station do in forever which is do a mixshow as soon as the dj comes on air I think it was called the 7 O'clock jumpoff or something to that effect. But I really don't think that THE BOX is thinking outside of "THE BOX" because if they were they would do something like that. I agree that Charlamagne and Flu Season or D-Nyce would make one hell of a night show. Divine should definitely be middays to go against Deja Dee from Z93, Sean Mack could fit in with the afternoon drive and have a 5 oclock mixshow called the 5 O'Clock BoomBox w/ DJ Tantrum or DJ Kub or whoever. Im just tired of hearing the same ole songs with no mixshows except for on the weekends even those mixshows aren't live in the studio. The Box just needs to do some rearranging in schedule and program hell i think i could do a better job at schedule and music selection than they are doing right now ;D its time to step their game up and stop playing around and I know money can be an issue but if they had kept Jay Tek around im pretty sure we would be hearing an entirely different sounding 92.5 THE BOX, he had mixshows lined up. I just don't see how you can call yourself a legit hip-hop station with no mixshows???? They just sound like a new version of Z93 and that's not the way to go. Im not giving up on them just need to do a little bit more tweaking and theyll be on point. WE WANT CHARLAMAGNE!!!!! :D

Looks like DJ D-Nyce has left The Box. His picture has been taken off their website. DJ Accabee is now doing the 2-6 timeslot.

That's what it looks like. So I wonder will DJ Accabee also be doing the overnight shift that he was previously doing???

I don't think Acabee was ever LIVE at 10pm. ;) Flu holding it down though! Wouldn't this be the perfect time to move the midday person to afternoons and slide Divine in 10am-2pm. Go figure!

they're announcing that every afternoon starting Wednesday (Nov. 3rd) at noon that someone new will be 'rocking the box' in the afternoons. I don't know if they are going to shuffle around who they already have or if they're bringing in new talent each day for the afternoons. (Star 99.7 did something like this about 2 years ago for the midday shift--they had a different person on and let the listeners decide who would be the new midday person by voting on the station's website but that didn't last long and it was voicetracked--it had me fooled cause I thought Kelly Mac was back in Charleston)
