Compare/Contrast: WEEI and the Sports Hub

Just my opinion:

Mornings: The Hub, C+; WEEI, D (not crazy over either, both really adolescent)
Middays: WEEI, A; The Hub, A- (slight edge to EEI, love both)
Afternoons: The Hub, B+; WEEI, C+ (Ordway can get on my nerves at times)
Evenings: WEEI, A, The Hub, A- (slight edge to EEI, both great shows but Addams had some fun)
Weekends: WEEI, B; The Hub, C (need more live and local, The Hub needs to beef it up a little bit)

Overall: I'd give the edge to the Hub during the week and to EEI on weekends.

I wonder if Middays can stay A- all fall and winter. When there is a Pats game they run Tanguay and Zolak like slave drivers. When the game is on a week day or a Sunday night game these two are totally laid out and spending half the day on the air. That is completely exhausting. I love thier show and dont want to see them burn out.

Just my opinion:

Mornings: The Hub, D; WEEI,C+ (Hub morning show sound like they are still on awful WBCN)
Middays: WEEI, A; The Hub,B ( love both)
Afternoons: The Hub, B+; WEEI, A+ (I love The Big Show)
Evenings: WEEI, C The Hub, B (slight edge to Hub, WEEI Addams can be a jerk at time's)
Weekends: WEEI, C+; The Hub, C (need more live and local, L.J should be on WEEI every weekend )

WEEI needs to get on FM in Boston bad, some people are picking WBZ-FM over WEEI for the simple fact that it is on FM.

Unless it's a Sox game, I haven't put on WEEI since the Sports Hub started. Toucher and Rich are getting better every week with the new format. They don't come off as jaded grumpy old farts who talk down to their callers. They talk about sports and the news the way I would with my friends. I mostly listen to Ron and Fez on XM in the midday, but I like what I hear from Tanguay and Zo. Felger and Maz have been a nice surprise. It's nice just having two blow hards on, instead of three or four guys yelling over eachother on the Big Show. D.A. is a good night time host. I like Mike Adams, but his act is getting old. D.A. has some interesting guests, and his lighter side seems to be coming out now that he's been in town for a month. I have better things to do on the weekends than listen to sports talk radio. I've liked what little I've heard from Hardy and Trupe.

I'm excited to hear the Hockey Show on Wednesday with DA, Bob Beers, and Dave Goucher. The Bruins earned some more attention last season. At least WBCN and T/R have showed interest in the B's for the last couple of season. I hate WEEI's attitude towards hockey.

Toucher and Rich are childish and puerile at times... and it makes me laugh out loud. Better than listening to the tedious non-sports ranting of one Mr. Callahan. So good to have an alternative especially because I've pretty much stopped listening to Jeff Santos and all his "good friends." Total snoozefest. And I'm as left-wing as they come!

I listened to Toucher & Rich once. It just wasn't my cup of tea. It reminded me a little of the Andelman brothers (who I also listened to just once). I can't see them taking too many D&C listeners. Dale and Holley are the hands down winners of mid-day. Afternoons depend on the Big Show co-hosts. I've never been a fan of Felger, but I've always liked Mazz. If the Big Show has Larry Johnson, Fred Smerlas, Butch Sterns, or some of the other usual suspects on, I'll listen to the Hub, Felger notwithstanding. I don't know if they can do day-by-day, show-by-show ratings, if they can, Ordway better keep a close eye on it.

I usually don't listen at night, but I've always liked Mike Adams. On weekends I've heard D.A. and he's excellent. Mike might be in trouble. The Hub has weekends by a landslide, especially considering that 'EEI brought back Mustard and Johnson.

Well Southeastern Mass is covered with EEI out of Providence and the news is WEEi will be on 93.7. Below from Boston Radio Watch .

The real fallout from CBS Radio's new entry - 98.5 The Sports Hub - into the local sports radio fray is only starting to take shape. With 890 ESPN shutting down for good come Monday(BRW 9/14), a much bigger move(or a series of moves) is now apparently in the works by WEEI AM 850's parent owner Entercom Commnications. [EDIT]

The Globe article you mentioned and the BRW article you reproduced (note: I believe radio-info.com asks that you provide a link and poss. do a very short excerpt) goes back to Sept 12, over 2 weeks ago. So far no official word
about WEEI going to 93.7. If it's going to happen (poss. during Sox playoffs--hello, they start a week from today or
tomorrow, or maybe just before Celts season starts?) there is yet to be official word, yet.

I agree T&R is getting better as they feel out their spread. I'd much rather laugh in the morning, than listen to the right wing stuff about what's wrong. However, were it not for John Wallach the show would have zero sports credibility. The painful time listening is when they do talk sports, they don't come across as credible (besides wallach)
Tang/ Zoe and Mazz/ Felger blow away their counterparts in my opinion.
The only dial changer now is Belicheck on the big show on mondays, that's radio to set your alarm too.

Anyone catch Theo on Mazz/ Felger today? Awesome discussion on JD Drew.

One thing I forgot to mention in my post on this topic is the way Sports Hub handles the callers. I can listen to a show, especially a weekend show, and know I'm not going to hear a speech from Danny from Quincy about some trade the Sox made five years ago or Steve from Fall River's speech about the "post-Manny era" or the ubiquitous Frank from Gloucester.

The so called celebrity callers are still too much of a presence on 'EEI especially on the weekends. They either don't bother to call or they're cut off quickly on 98.5

I wish Felger wouldn't automatically cut off callers, though. They make a point or ask a question and they are dropped without a chance to react to what the host says. No need for a two minute long screaming match, but maybe the guy has something to say.

I used to listen to the Big Show all the time, but find myself listening to
Felger and Mazz more and more. Love him or hate him, Felger makes
listening more compelling. On the Big Show, the only day-to-day constant
is Ordway and as capable as he is as a talk show host, he's not the
reason I would tune in. Unlike the presence of Felger and Mazz every day,
Ordway's show depends more on who the co-host are, (or are not, in
certain cases). But, as a previous poster mentioned, when coach B. is
on, so is WEEI in my car.

don't forget Pete but that doesn't make it any more compelling. I don't usually bother with Coach Bill since there's never any revelation, no getting behind the wall of secrecy that surrounds that team. As long as they win, though, fine with me. Mazz and Felgy are worth listening to
