Sample Hour over at the "Classic Rock" River

So, in the same hour (3:45 to 4:45) WYAY played more songs (10 vs. 14).....and I think WYAY had the better mix.

So, it is now your turn....?

I understand why you label the River is classic rock but the official format is actually classic hits with a rock lean. My issue with the River is that they stick with only the biggest hits from each band which limits their playlist.

Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart being played several times a day but what about their other not so big hits but still hits??? For example, remember long distance run around???

Pink Floyd has so many hits but the River seems to only know, Hey You, Money, Comf numb and The Wall. What about the PIGS album?

Now, I'm a classic rock fanatic. For that matter, my weakness is rock music period rather it be classic rock, mainstream, active, alternative or even indie. Considering all this; I don't even listen to 106.7 because it's too pop vs rock. There are two types of classic hits with one leaning towards the rock side and the other leaning towards the top 40 side. If you were not listening to disco and R&B in the 70's but you were listening to Cream and Pink Floyd, chances are 106.7 will not even be on a present.

Uh...album rock cuts typically run longer than pop singles. Especially pre-1970s pop singles which regularly clock in under 3 minutes. Yes, I've made a mixtape or two in my life.

I will say River is kind of schizoid in how deep they will go with a band. Agreed on Yes, they had plenty of other songs besides "Owner" ("Roundabout", "All Good People" in their classic period, "Leave It", "Our Song" on 90125, or really throw people for a loop and play "Friends of Mr. Cairo" by Jon and Vangelis).

Re: Pink Floyd, have the songs on Wish You Were Here and the no-Waters album from 1986 been burned out? How come you never hear "Not Now John" (not even the clean version that says "Stop all that")?

But they will go deep on Zeppelin.

Anything by Blood, Sweat, & Tears makes me cringe. More boomer porn.
