Compensation for Sunday talking head guests

I imagine there are few broadcast gigs more prestigious for a politician than an appearance on one of the Sunday talking head programs on a Big 4 network.

Therefore I ask...

Do MTP, FTN, This Week or Fox News Sunday pay fees for their guests' appearances thereon, or do the latter make do with mere expenses, or just face time alone courtesy of those shows? (Cable talking head shows can be thrown into this discussion too if you want.)

I don't know about Fox, but the others do not pay for appearances whatsoever. That would be a major breach of journalistic ethics. If anybody did so and word got out, the entire network's news operation would be discredited.

Any politician who goes on these shows to face the music does it on their own accord.

Fox, on the other hand, is a major breach of journalistic ethics in itself.

A lot depends on how the division is classed. For instance the morning news may be part of entertainment, so the guests on that show can be compensated and the interview shown at a later time.

Furthermore a lot of these guests get "compensated" in other ways. For instance, the salary for their staff may be covered by the network, (for research for the topic etc). This frees the person to take shift money if they desire. There are also things like "gifts," "hotel rooms" "speaker fees" which are not part of the compensation but enrich the guest.

So they "In general" do not get paid directly for their guest appearence but there are lots of other ways of compensating them.
