Complaint about 790 The Zone

College football rules in the South so why would the powers-that-be at The Zone take Chuck Oliver off his daily show? It makes no sense, especially when his replacement was Chuck Smith. YICKS!

Also, we need to hear more of The Dean Beau Bock! Put him back on the morning show!

Chuck Smith is horrible. I can't say enough bad about Chuck Smith. He rambles too much. He can't make a point without wandering through two or three other subjects on the way. By the time he finishes one of his endless sentences, I don't remember why he started talking in the first place. Most of the time, I don't think he knows either.

I like Chuck Oliver, but apparently not everyone feels that way. Beau seems to be in semi-retirement.

Did I mention I can't stand Chuck Smith.

I absolutely share your opinions, but the Zone's research must suggest that we're in the minority. (ironic pun not intended)

He also doesnt listen to Chernoff and will repeat something that Matt just said.

Chuck O. is pretty good though in his role as roving reporter/weekend guy. I think he's going through some personal stuff right now as well.

The best thing that the Zone has done recently is The Chris Dimino Show. I've pretty much given up on them ever reuniting The Bottom Line of old but this is pretty close. Hometeam is a pretty good sidekick.

Do you guys remember when The Bottom Line actually ran for FIVE hours at one point?!? That was great even if it was about an hour too long most days.

I agree. I like Dimino being able to do his thing. Bringing in Hometeam works pretty well in that it gives Dimino someone to work off from time to time. I miss Chuck Oliver having his own daily show as well. The Bottom Line guys used to be my favorite hosts on 790, but the Kaing Chuck Oliver had taken that spot. I think he and Chernoff worked well together. They had a good chemistry. I don't hate Chuck Smith, but Monsters is inferior to SoCo every day of the week imho.

It's not Chernoff's fault.

What is wrong with Chuck Smith and the Monsters of the Midday on 790 the Zone? Just because everything Chuck says sounds like it is being read off of a cue card. Listening to Monsters of the Midday on 790 the Zone is not the worst thing on the radio. Don't get me wrong, Monsters of the Midday on 790 the Zone is bad but it's not Two Live Stews Dawg. You know what I'm sayin Dawg? Cause, Dawg, I gotta tell ya Dawg, I find that show hard to listen to Dawg. Crunk Dawg gag laugh Dawg Aw'ight aw'ight aw'ight Dawg gag dawg dawg dawg dawg dawg.................

The thing is I don't really like Chernoff that much. I think he's overrated, but he and Chuck Oliver played well off of each other. I actually listen to B&K more than I used to, but I still listen to the Stews as well. One thing that irritates me about B&K are the goofy intros they do to their segments. They all sound really crappy to me. I know 790 uses stuff like that as well, but the 790 ones sound much better and flow with the program better than the B&K ones.

Huge Bottom Line fan here myself and it is great at least now because Dimino spends a decent amount of time now filling in on Mayhem and adding Bell in the mix makes even funnier. Steak at times seems like a part-timer. I guess he has the business things to atttend to also that get in the way of being on the air as much.

Hometeam compliments him well. No ego there so he doesn't try to compete with Chris.

I still dont get the Stews hate....

The Stews always get out to break On Time. They always get their mentions in. They treat their callers and fans with respect. From a professional radio aspect---these guys are aces.

I guess some of you schlubs that still have some preconceived notion about what radio SHOULD be must be offended that two amateurs are making a couple hundred thousand each a year doing something that is a little nonstandard. But the Stews have worked at it. They are MUCH better than they used to be. Just because you dont identify with them is fine....but it's no excuse to kill a couple of guys who are having success in a format that needed a ****** anyways.

I think Chernoff is pretty good. He learned at the feet of Cellini (a radio PRO) and Dimino (a Nazi for the facts and entertainment); Dude would be fine if he went national.

As to imaging and bits; have you ever listened to WIP in Philly or the big Sports Talker in Dallas? (both alleged to be two of the best); they sound like college radio compared to the Zone.

Look, I dont work for them, but I do think they do a damn fine job. Oh, and they arent associated with the corporations who have ruined the business;hmph.

680's imaging and bits are hard for me to listen to and not just in comparison to 790. I should have been more clear on that. They just don't sound good to me at all, but I can now tolerate B&K which is a step forward.
