I've learned on multiband compressors attack and release times can be (arguably SHOULD be) sped up as you go up in frequency for processing program material. Your attack and release should be slower in the bass range than in the treble range.
My question is, does anybody know if a similar "rule of thumb" is true for compression ratios, too? Or, is it best to have identical compression ratios on all bands of a multiband compressor?
I've wondered if you can, for example, crank up the bass compression ratios since the attack and release times are slower, or crank up the treble compression ratios due to the higher frequencies... my ears can't find a good "pattern" yet.
