We'll need some more info to help. Which compressor are you using? Also, what sound are you looking for--loud and heavily compressed?

it's a DBX 266XL format is dance. looking for a loud......"in your ear" type sound if that makes sense.
You're going to need a fast attack and a medium to fast release. Do not push the processor too hard or you will hear the artifacts (pumping).

Mix bus compression or individual voice compression?
So much depends on the room, the mics and, above all, the "talent" as the americans call it. And obviously the settings on the comp. I find that compressing vocals sometimes create other problems, which is perfectly natural. I'm thinking about sibilance, noise rushups etc. That's why I've always preferred some sort of strip solution to just a comp. That bieng said, you can get a full sound with just a comp too, but if I were you I'd read a book on audio mixing and learn how it works so I can work it out myself. Holistic learning is the only kind that works.

As I've read the original post, it looks like they are compressing the web stream. Not just the microphones.
This can be tricky using a wideband compressor. If they are indeed processing the entire content of the web stream, I would suggest a multiband compressor which is designed to process their web content. The DBX 266XL would be a good choice for the microphones but not necessarily for the entire mix.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you won't be able to achieve "loud" and "full" with a wideband compressor such as 266XL... You need a multi-band processor designed for broadcast (or streaming) to do that.
Take a look at Omnia A/XE. It's a tri-band processor together with the licensed AAC/HE-AAC streaming encoder, all in software, all for $345.
