After the Tampa Bay Rays upended the Boston Red Sox for the final wild-card spot in the MLB playoffs - mostly in part due to the Sox choking away a 9-game lead they had in September - Massachusetts native Conan O'Brien tweeted the following to Red Sox Nation:
"Remember Red Sox fans, they still have to live in Tampa."
That drew thousands of angry Twitter replies, to the point that Conan acknowledged it on his TBS late-night show on Thursday night.
"I want to apologize to all the people of Tampa for my last tweet. I'm sure Tampa is a fine place to live... if you're a mosquito."

Whether or not Conan was sincere, let's not forget one thing: he is a comedian. I'm sure even the most die-hard of Rays fans who have supported the team since it was known as the Devil Rays chuckled at either of his barbs.
