Conan O'Brien On "60 Minutes"

The former "Tonight Show" host will give his first television interview since being forced out by NBC, this Sunday on "60 Minutes":

I wonder if he is going to comment on his tenure at NBC; wouldn't it be against his settlement with network if he sheds details about his falling out with them?

I'm sure there are things he can't say, and plenty of other things that he can say. He's a smart guy, so I'd expect him to be trash NBC on a superficial level - remember that both Conan and Jay Leno were trashing NBC pretty hard during the controversy - on NBC's airwaves. But I'd expect Conan to stay away from anything really controversial, and leaven it his typical self-deprecating humor, implying that he's at least partially to blame for his own downfall.

If you're going to watch this segment for "startling new revelations," I predict you'll be disappointed.

I'm surprised to hear is doing an interview.I thought he was gagged until September. Not unless NBC gave him him permission to talk at a very limited level.I mean limited. So you won't hear anything new.

Media blackout ends May 1st. Nondisparegment (saying bad things about NBC) ends September 1st, along with his noncompete.

We probably will not hear anything bad from Conan until September. This interview probably will focus on what happened, rather then as a venue to trash NBC.

I'd almost swear I heard NBC offer Conan an alternative time slot for his show and he turned it down and opted to leave.

Not exactly the same as "forced out".

I think it was more of a force out. Technically they could have sued him for breach of contract for not taking the new time slot.As bad as this was I think NBC gave him a good going away contract. They could have really screwed him if they wanted too. They NBC/U was evan offering him his former Tonight show studio for his new show. Not sure where the new show is being done but it seems NBC knows that Conan was treated unfairly and have tried working with him.

OMG - are we going to re-hash all this stuff and have the Leno/Conan debate yet again? To-may-to, to-mah-to...

Even if he's still gagged from saying anything about the legal/monetary details of his departure, there is still plenty to talk about. I don't think you can legally prevent a person from saying publicly that the network is a bunch of clueless a**holes, or discussing the details that the public already knows about. Also, Conan can talk about his life in general, and his new TBS show.

Whether or not he has anything new to say, I will be watching. He is probably one of the most interesting and fascinating tv personalities of our time. CBS is once again right on target for choosing personalities that will garner ratings. Kudos to CBS for getting it right once again.

This just in: May just happens to be a "sweeps month." Which implies the show will have a high rating based on the curiosity of the first interview since his leaving NBC alone. So I guess everyone above is right, there probably won't be anything new regarding details about the dismissal.

Sweeps plus Conan as a curiosity factor, that means 60 Minutes will tease the holy bejesus outta it for the first 40 minutes.

I think you're confusing 60 Minutes with local news, KIFR. In my experience (and I'm a three decade 60 Minutes junkie), they always lead with the hot story. So my guess is, Conan will the first segment, or possibly take up 2 segments.

Funny to me that Conan appears to demonize Leno, when it was Conan who forced Leno out of his 11:30 slot in the first place.

Well, sometimes, 60 minutes will save the hot story for LAST, as to increase time spent watching. My guess, Conan will be last this Sunday. Plus, they tend to put the "entertainment" stories as the third act.
