Confused about data usage & streaming

I am confused about how much music I can listen to without exceeding my monthly bandwidth limit.
I think a Byte is equal to 8 bits, so with a 5GB limit from T-Mobile, I should have 40 billion bits to enjoy each month.
If I listen to a 64kb stream, divide 64 thousand into 40 billion, I should be able to listen for 625,000 seconds, or 10,416 minutes, or 174 hours per month, or about 5½ hour per day.
Did I do the math correctly ??? Should I install the wifi radio in my taxi ???

Theoretically, yes. But that's assuming your use only streaming data, which is unrealistic. Your phone will use data for other things and streaming isn't limited to strictly to 64kbps. Other data will be sent to make the stream work. I'm not sure how mobile operators apply their caps, but there could also be protocol overhead to take into account, despite being small.

What codec is the stream? MP3 or AAC+? If it is MP3, I would recommend finding a AAC+ 32kbps if it is offered and you can tolerate it. Possibly even if the 64kbps is AAC+ already. You probably won't be able to tell much of a difference in the car and the data usage will be significantly less.

Of course, 32k would allow me to take care of all my other web activities plus I rarely drive more than five days per week.
One other question: with two streams sending out identical size and type of data stream, what is lost with stereo or gained with mono transmission ???
