Seeing as how no one else will do it, congratulations to former WFLA weekend host Daniel Ruth for winning the Pulitzer Prize.

On behalf of everyone who worked on your old show, it's good to see one of the few WFLA employees who has any integrity (yes, that was a shot at Ted Webb and Jack Harris) be recognized by your peers.

And Ted and Schnitt, I don't see any Pulitzers on your desk.

Please keep in mind he was awarded this for his work in newspapers and not in radio, ok?

Also some friendly advice, son. If you did work for that station, you would be well aware there are some folks there that you just don't bust on.

I would likewise congratulate Mr. Ruth. But when the initial message made the negative comment about the other personalities, it wiped out any good feeling that the message may have intended to convey. It's a sad sign of the times that we are so negative and rude.

Rudeness aside, both radio and newspapers thrive on negativity. Complacency an good news no longer sells newspapers nor fills diaries. Sad? Yes.

CC4life you have zero class. I don't know why you have a bee in your bonnet about Tedd but what ever your issue why bring negativity into a positive post. SMH. Tedd Webb is one of the greatest people I have had the pleasure of working with. Putting his name in a negative sentence should bring felony prosecution.

I'm pleased for Daniel. He's a real throwback to the old days of print when the best news people were just regular guys with a platform. I know that he never thought he'd win a Pulitzer, but he deserves it.

As far as cheap shots at Tedd and whomever, those people at 970 are good friends and I have no respect for anyone who takes anonymous cheap shots at them.

Look up the word "professionals" and you'll see Tedd and Jack. Really no need for anyone to go to bat for either, however, these are two of the very finest people in our business and it was my pleasure to work alongside them years ago.

Congratulations to Mr. Ruth.

This area seems to be rich (and has been; especially in the past) in both the print media as well as TV and radio.

In addition to others mentioned in this thread; I am also reminded of the late Bob Hite and Roy Leep (who I believe is still with us).

Or Bob's dad who also had a long history in broadcasting...

How embarrassing! !

May Bob Hite have many more years of good health and you're exactly right, I was thinking of Bill Ratliffe. That was a shocker.

I used to listen to Robert Hite-Bob's father when he came out of retirement and anchored the news on WWSB and I understand that he had connections to Walter Cronkite.

st pete, state of confusion

Bob will be surprised to hear he died. :)

If you play a Beatles song backwards they do mention Bob Hite

Nowhere in this thread is it mentioned that Ruth is back on radio...

You're right, no one mentioned that. I heard the promo on the way into work the other day. I think it said Saturday mornings at 10? Something like that...

CC4Life confuses the hell out of me, he has been such an apologist for CC, yet he disses Jack and Teddy. I hope you don't work over there anymore, that could be a career ending move...

With all due respect to the three broadcasters in question, I admire their skill on the microphone, but can't stand their political agendas. Jack and Tedd pretty much agree with everything the Republicans stand for, and Daniel Ruth pretty much agrees with everything the Democrats stand for. What if you're disillusioned with both political parties?

Oh well, congrats to Daniel, this is a brokered deal, right?

He IS back on the radio, Sat mornings 10-12 on am820.Will have to see if he is better at putting me to sleep than the Doctor on 1250am at Sat. morning.
