Congrats to Kroc & Co.

I know it wasn't perfect and it was not intended to be, but kudos to Chirs Kroc and the whole team at WSB involved with Kroc's live radio interpretation of "It's A Wonderful Life" Friday evening. If you missed it, the show will be rebroadcast Saturday morning (December 23rd) from Midnight-4 AM. Yeah I know that's an odd hour but just get the WSB stream on your computer and set up a recording encoder to record it to your hard drive to listen to it at a more convenient time. It probably should air at an earlier time but it was PG 13 with some of the jokes that were used by the cast. the production may have sounded like a trainwreck at times, but it sure was golden radio. Big thumbs up! :)

Thumbs up to Kroc and Co. as well. I'd love to hear more "Golden Age" radio here in the Atlanta market. There's a great syndicated series out there "When Radio Was" which I don't beleive airs anywhere in the ATL. GST Are You Listening?

This brought to mind another WGST cast away, Glenn Beck...whom, we were told, just didn't attract an audience in Atlanta...

Before WPLO went Hispanic, they aired When Radio Was and I never missed a show (or at least tried not to). the show is ighly entertaining. However Stan Freberg retired recently. He was a great host and as a radio icon had great insight into what he was presenting the listener.

Here's the latest Georgia list from the "When Radio Was" website:

WCOH 1400 Newnan, GA M - F 2p-3p; Sa 9a-11a 770-683-7234
WGHC 1370 Clayton, GA Su 2p-3p
WHIE 1320 Griffin, GA M - F 1p-2p 770-227-9451
WYYZ 1490 Jasper, GA M - F 10a-11a 706-692-4100

Some of S. Atlanta should be covered by WHIE. WYYZ has a stream which just aired a promo that also included a 9pm airtime.

Cheers.

I would like to hear some specialty programs on WSB am 750 on the weekends instead of re-runs. When Radio Was would be great. Also Sounds of Sinatra with Sid Mark, Big Band Jump, or Big Band Ballads and Blues. We had these shows on AM-1160 before it was sold and the new owner destroyed the station. It would be nice to hear such shows on a CLEAR 50,000 watt station and a nice break from talk. The Big Talker WPHT 1210 in Philadelphia has a nice break from it's talk format on the weekend with Sounds of Sinatra.

I agree there should be some other programming other than re-runs on the weekends for WSB and those programs would be nice. However it sounds like programing WSB would have run a couple of decades ago and that's the crowd that WSB wanted to get away from and eventually did. I think a good compromise would be Ludlow Porch. He may not fit on the weekdays like he used to but the weekends could use a little spicing up. that is until WSB gets more weekend sports which I think it will once Dave and the Falcons part ways.

Well done indeed!! How did he come up with such an idea? I guess all those years of listening to radio gods Steve Dahl and Garry Meier in Chicago rubbed off on him. S&G used to do that bit every year for about five Christmas's in a row. I'll give Krok credit, at least he steals from the best.

Why was Savage on past 10pm the past few nights? Heard Kroc at midnight (not sure if he came on at 11pm). Is there a change from his 10pm-2am shift? Hope not!

Clark Howard's Christmas Kids pushed Hannity to start 2 hours later, in turn so did Savage and Kroc. They go back to normal on Monday.
