Congrats to Rob...

If you didn't see it this morning...

*Rob Creighton, program director at southwest suburban WRXQ-FM (100.7), has been hired as program director and afternoon personality at WVIC-FM in Lansing, Mich. At the NextMedia Group station here, Creighton helped launch the classic rock format and also hosted mornings and middays.

The whole round-up of changes is <a target="_blank" href=http://www.suntimes.com/output/feder/cst-fin-feder141.html>here</a>.

So Rob (I know you read this!), have fun and good luck on the new radio gig!

Rob Creighton is a great friend and I wish him the best. His last day at WRXQ was this past Tuesday, if I am correct.

Rob and I worked together for five years (1993-1998) at Loyola University Chicago's radio station, WLUW (ENERGY 88.7). We went through several highs and lows together with the staff, department heads, sponsors, and interns. I worked with Rob and our General Manager, Jim Lemon, to learn everything within the programming department and the many facets of station operations and management. For several years, I had to share a small cramped office with Rob, Jim, and the Promotions Director. Rob taught me SELECTOR and everything he knew about programming, and for that I will always be grateful.

After we left WLUW, we still kept in touch. I hope that won't change. Rob is a talented programmer, and I hope we get to see more great things from him in the future.

Congratulations, Rob!

JD

I called Rob a few years ago for a job when "THE BUS" was around. I let him know who I was, and he said he heard of me before. I was touched. So that's what I will remember Rob by. Good luck man!

Maybe better opportunity. Maybe a challenge. Maybe wanted to move away from Chicago. Maybe he has family where he is going.

When radio people make moving decisions, there are a lot of "maybe's" that don't seem obvious sometimes.
