I know that this is 6+ but...

January 2010
1.7 581,100

February 2010
1.2 311,400

Wow.

Its so damn weird, too, everyone I know (family, friends) not working in radio say they listen & love the fan. All I can respond with is "Really?"

They don't ever mention the Jagger show, it's always Barsky/Greg, Arnie Cocker Spaniel or Richie witless...and again, all I can say is, "Really?"

I don't get it...

That IS weird, because NONE of my friends and family listen to the fan. Most of them don't listen to sports radio at all, and the ones that do, listen to the Ticket.

Damn.

No fan of The Fan, but how does that place keep the lights on? Oh well, two or three more complete line-up changes in the next year or so should solve the ratings problems.

A couple of years ago, KTCK was the top billingstation in the market. They still do extremely well (like top 5) for a station with an absolutley horrible signal(***#1)

I'm sure CBS figues it can pick off some of KTCK's advertisers and do as well as anything else. After all, with 50 some signals in this market now, what format is there where they're not going to be the 2nd or 3rd option(***#2.) Formats we don't have (Smooth jazz) don't have on a big signal (Big Band) or have already failed (Hot talk) may not bill as much as your 3rd sports station...

***#1- I'd like to see an analysis of who does the most with the least signal. I would think KTCK and their crappy little signal might be atop that list. And the Fan, with their 100KW and 25th in their demo might be on the worst list...

***2-Yes i realize that there are some formats, or versions of formats that we don't have (Classic alt, adult alt, etc) but the demographics that those stations cover are already served by other stations, so a station targeting 25-34's would still be competing with a Mix,etc...

Lil' One says:

formats that we don't have (Classic alt,

I ask: Classic Alt? Is that alternative classical music? Peter Glass? John Cage? Aaron Copland? Maurice Ravel? John Williams? Peter Schickele? Sounds interesting; when do we launch and on which station?

I'm sure you jest but classic alt is The Cure, Depeche Mode, U2, REM, The Smiths, The Police, New Order, Pretenders, The Clash, Morrissey,
Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Public Image Ltd and Love and Rockets.
