Congrats To The "HAMMER"!

I see where HAMMER has landed 7PM-12MIDNIGHT at X103.9 in Phoenix! HAMMER, if anyone deserves to be back "ROCKING" the airwaves in Phoenix it is YOU my brother! I know you will HAMMER your former colleague into submission! Almost wished I was there to hear the big "Duke-A-Roo"! Congratulations HAMMER! Kick Ass and Take Names!

No one listens to X103.9! lol Riviera should dump the format...then again Riviera destroyed and damaged the station already and should have kept it "The Edge"! Any ideas on what format would fit on the 103.9 frequency?? Gen-X radio? Dance?? Rhythmic AC??

Classic alternative. Ignore the currents -- heck, ignore any band that wasn't already getting tracks on the air by 9-11. Shoot hard for the 25-49 male demo and forget about younger listeners. If a classic act is turning out relevant material, sure, play that, but nobody past their Senior Prom is in any kind of huge hurry to hear the latest from Cage the Elephant or Dirty Heads.

This is a case where the new management came in and sucked what heritage was left in a station. Could you imagine Clear Channel changing the name of KNIX to "Cat Country" or KDKB to "Rock 93.3?" The name change never made sense, unless they didn't want to pay Jacobs Media rights to use the "Edge" moniker.

I think you're on to something here!

I heard "Kings of Leon" last night, so ignoring the currents would satisfy me most of the time. But then I heard "3 Doors Down" which is just as bad as Kings of Leon. So I don't think going pure Gold would really help them if they keep making poor choices. I was then surprised to hear "Losing My Religion." I mean, I like REM, but why play the song that Mix, Peak, KSLX, and someday KOOL will play?

I love 103.9. It's basically the only station I listen to.
I'll take "Losing My Religion" because I also get to hear the Dirty Heads, Cage the Elephant, Cake, the Offspring, the Presidents of the United States of America, Social Distortion, Bad Religion, MGMT, Phoenix, Muse and countless other alternative bands that I can't hear anywhere else on terrestrial radio. (And when the new Gin Blossoms album comes out next month, I'll be happy to hear that, too.)

I think it's fine the way it is...some classic alternative (New Order, Echo & the Bunnymen) mixed in with new artists. It's perfect for me.
;D

PS And the reason no one really knows who Hammer or the other DJs on 103.9 are is because they do it right...very little talk...LOTS O'MUSIC!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!

Im pretty sure Robin's on vacay...but soon the new lineup is Gadger mornings, Robin Nash days, Craven Moorehead drivetime and Hammer nights.

And yes, some of the music is corny (they play Welcome to the Jungle & Enter Sandman almost every evening...too weird for them!) but I gotta take the good with the bad on that station FOR THE LOVE OF THE MUSIC!!!!

Cuz that's what it's all about, people...it's FOR THE LOVE OF THE MUSIC!!!!!!!!

;D

I love 103.9, best station in town!!!! I love that they added Tool back into their amazing music mix.. well last year I was not to fond of the station because they only played 15 songs over and over like a hip hop station, but they are back and I love it!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Marty, there's more of that comedy of yours!!!

"HAMMER" is a RADIO GOD! I can see why you are WORRIED Mike! I would be WORRIED too if I had to face "HAMMER" everynight! Wait, I thought you did afternoons! "HAMMER" ROCKS!
