Congrats WDRC!

Tonight WRDC wrapped up their 3 day telethon for the kids at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center! When all the counting was done they learned that they raised $231,330.42 in those 3 days.

This was the 10th year that they had done a telethon and honestly it was one of the most emotional telethons I can remember.

Jerry Kristafer was there for the entire 3 day event, from the start of his show all the way to 7PM each night. If you listened to the show you might have learned that Jerry has a mighty big heart. I know a few times he had us laughing one moment then tears rolling down our cheeks the next.

Mike Stevens was there a lot as well.

Graham Winters marked her 10th appearance at the CCMC Telethon and you could tell this event was important for her. Being a parent myself I enjoyed her stories about her kids. She did a great job.

And then there was "Friendly" Floyd Wright who came in each day early for his shift to help out. Floyd who has had medical issues himself over the last year really seemed to understand the importance of this event.

This is what LOCAL radio is about... coming together for the community. And the WDRC on Air (and Technical and promotions) teams did an amazing job helping what I consider an important institution here in Connecticut. As a parent, I know that like most you dont think about CCMC... until you need their services. And they were there for me and my kids when I needed them.

Well done everyone at WDRC!

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the kind words. CCMC is very near and dear to our hearts; and we are thankful that we have it so close to home...I can't imagine how families would manage if they had to go out of state for their child's care.

It's really the stories of these children and their families that makes the event what it is; and we are fortunate that Buckley Radio gives up the airwaves each year for this tremendous LOCAL cause - our kids.

Thanks for listening!

Grahame
