Andy Olson's Radio Free Phoenix Celebrates it's 4th Birthday Today!
Congratulations Andy, on the anniversary of bringing your life-long dream radio station to the Internet airwaves.
This year, your in-studio guests will include John Prine, Jerry Riopelle, Peter Case and The Tubes.
In recent weeks, Radio Free Phoenix has been credited with reuniting the legendary Valley band, The Jetzons, and bringing Scotland's The Fast Camels to the main stage of Monterey Pop.
Recently, The Radio Free Phoenix Morning Show with Angela Allen was nominated one of the top 10 morning shows in Phoenix by The Arizona Republic.
Notable syndicated specialty shows that originate from the RFP studios include Rockabilly and Beyond with Miss Holly King and Zappa Universe.
In 2007, RFP was the first station in the US to play Glasgow's, Green Peppers, and Apache Junction's The Earps.
This spring, RFP broadcast live from the Tempe Festival of the Arts, and the organizers of Tempe's Fiesta Bowl Block Party (and RFP fans) have recently approached Radio Free Phoenix about playing a major role in the festivites.
Radio Free Phoenix has pockets of loyal listeners in Uzbekistan, Berlin, London, Hong Kong, all over the globe, delighting in the sounds emanating from the Sonoran Desert. But the gang at RFP is more stoked to hear that the Arizona State Capitol is tuned-in, along with ASU, Changing Hands Bookstore, Tracks in Wax and thousands of homes and offices in the Phoenix Metro.
Andy Olson has achieved broadcast excellence, with a shoe-string budget, a supportive wife, and a handful of friends who share the musical vision.
Congratulations, and thanks, Andy, for making your dream radio station a reality.
Happy Birthday Radio Free Phoenix!
