Congratulations are in order.....

.....to Bob Hathaway at KRLD who is celebrating his 30th anniversary at the station. The morning news team saluted him this morning on the air. He's proof that talent, knowledge and an easy going attitude will always have a place in this business.

It also shows that no matter how bad things are at KRLD, things will rarely, IF ever change. There's a lot of long-time employees there that always talk about the "Good old days."

Still bitter over getting fired, huh?

Sounds like you missed the point. The people who have been there long enough to have experienced the Good Old Days, certainly do NOT like the way KRLD is presently run by CBS. They probably didn't think much of SFX, either.

The SFX came from him ... He uses the same ones from a production kit all the time. Nothing like hearing the SFX from the Rangers broadcasts being used in the news packages and hearing the same music being used over and over again.

Hello?!! The comment wasn't about sound effects. It was about SFX Broadcasting (the company, before if morphed), one of the previous owners of KRLD.

Jaco- SFX was the company owned by Robert F.X. Sillerman. He also owned TSN.
He owned KRLD before Infinity/CBS.
As for Hathaway, Hondo is a good'un. KRLD hired him when they went COUNTRY (of all things!). That he was able to ride out the changes is a testiment to the man.
Congrats, Bob, and many more good years to come.

Oh, my bad ... FORGIVE ME!!! I'm not perfect like y'all ... Sorry!!! I guess I spoke a little out of place there eh? Not nearly as bad as people who ask if I'm "bitter about being fired from KRLD" or whatever acting like they actually work IN the business.

No forgiveness needed. How many listeners actually know who owns the station they listen to.
And I don't work in the business either. I come in, drink coffee, listen to the radio, read the papers, talk on the phone, talk on the air...It ain't real work, like the people who have to make sense of garbled copy, come up with fresh sounds, deal with psychotic clients, and put it all together against deadline into a professional sounding package for air. That's what makes Bob H. a good un.

Ain't that the truth. At a radio station the position of "creative services director" is multifaceted; mediator, translator, nursemaid, miracle worker and unsung hero come to mind.

..AND HUMAN SACRIFICE ,especially for those on the weekends, overnights plus work the holidays with little or no recognition for any efforts.
